POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for the safe, accurate and timely receiving, shipping, and/or picking of parts and accessories at Nissan’s Parts Distribution Centre. This position is flexible in nature, and may be responsible for any of the functions described below at any time. Routine and ongoing warehouse maintenance and general housekeeping is expected throughout the shift. This is an hourly paid position (40-hour work week, plus overtime when necessary). POSITION FUNCTIONS The following position function statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed. The position function statements reflect expectations of the fully trained, proficient incumbent who meets all performance criteria. RECEIVING: Unloads sea containers, air shipments, and local suppliers’ parts and accessories, using forklift hand truck or walkee rider. This can include receiving various types of parts returns from Dealers. Verifies probills to ensure accurate quantities are received and records shortages, surpluses, or damages on carrier probill and obtains carrier drivers signature acknowledging the discrepancies. Moves received product into designated area as specified on binning ticket in accordance with priority; unpacks large and small crates/boxes; sorts received material onto pallets/carts for efficient travel to designated areas in the warehouse for storage. Puts product away into properly assigned warehouse locations. PICKING: Picks orders from locations as specified on preprinted batch pick labels and transports picked items to designated sorting/shipping areas; advises shipping area leadership of discrepancies i.e. shortages, damages, mixed stock. Sorts picked items into assigned areas/bins/racks/cages packing using appropriate equipment, e.g. Picking carts, order picker trucks, platform trucks, order selectors, reach truck, or counter-balance truck. SHIPPING: Packages items as needed in packing material to prevent transit damage; consolidates items into containers/cartons and identifies number of pieces and weight on the packing slip; moves packaged shipments to prescribed holding areas for shipping. Prepares dealer shipping labels using computerized shipping system; as well as, Bill of Lading/Manifest for all shipments. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The following qualification factors reflect the minimum skills and abilities required of the qualified applicant. Knowledge: A minimum of 1 year experience in a general warehouse. High School Diploma. Must be a certified forklift operator. Familiarity with health and safety issues and practices would be an asset. Ability to operate manual/automated material handling equipment i.e. counter-balance truck, order selector, reach truck, walkee rider, and forklift. Interpersonal Skills: Effective listening skills when given instructions. Ability to communicate diplomatically with co-workers. Complexity and Problem Solving: Problems are defined and resolved using established methods and procedures. Physical and Sensory Demands: Sensory demands required by this position are moderate focusing on ensuring that the numbers on parts are accurate. Physical demands are higher and include lifting of cartons for shipping and receiving goods along with prolonged level of standing/walking. Decision-making/Impact of the Position: The team management of the area will perform larger decision-making related to this position. Must have ability to work independently, and ability to make routine decisions (such as how to package/protect an outgoing part or accessory) is required. A typical error could be picking the wrong part. In this case, the dealer and potentially the customer would be affected and the error would take time to correct. People Management: Although this position has no formal management responsibilities, the incumbent is required to provide orientation and on-the-job training for new employees. WORKING CONDITIONS The incumbent in this position is exposed to a number of undesirable elements in the PDC. These include frequent exposure to dust, dangerous substances (e.g. grease/oil, batteries), noise and seasonal extreme temperature. Routinely required to lift up to 50 lbs. weight, to perform repetitive moderate weight-lifting tasks, and to deal with multiple and/or conflicting deadlines. Infrequent exposure to mold.
