Division – Corporate Insurance Apply By – June 24, 2025 General Accountability The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of rates and coverages for new and existing personal insurance products for SGI CANADA and its regional operations. Oversees the end-to-end rate setting process for auto and property products ensuring the rate changes are accurately reflected in the rate manuals. Coordinates the annual administrative budget for the division. Key Accountabilities Note: This section is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities – other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. Product and Rate Changes Implementation (40%) Develops the annual plan for auto rate filings in collaboration with the Product Manager, Actuarial Services and Operations. Conducts a review of proposed auto underwriting manual changes with Operations and the Product Manager and communicates initiative changes to determine what changes are required to the system. Develops and documents detailed project timelines with consideration of other department’s resources for rate and product change initiatives and processes. Coordinates, communicates and oversees all items required in the rate and product change process to ensure key milestones are met. Coordinates, in collaboration with Creative Development, the creation and update of brochures, reference guides, booklets and website content in online proofing system and reviews and approves the proposed changes. Reviews and approves all rate change documents and distributes final copies to applicable departments and external vendors. Rating Engine Coordination (15%) Provides detailed descriptions of underwriting and rate changes, including updated manuals and base rates and relativities to rating vendors. Coordinates the implementation of changes in rating engines to correlate with our internal underwriting system. Researches and coordinates the investigation and resolution of rating engine issues with vendors and internal departments. Monitors projects and issues to ensure deadlines are being met for planned implementation. Ensures internal testing is completed to verify accuracy of rates. Expansion Auto Issues and Initiatives (15%) Collaborates with Operations to prioritize underwriting and system issues that arise to determine what items need to be resolved. Coordinates and oversees projects related to product enhancements and initiatives. Determines and documents business requirements with Underwriting for product enhancements and initiatives. Regulation and Industry Developments Monitoring (10%) Gathers and documents competitor auto rate changes quarterly. Assists with research for proposed product changes. Monitors Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) and regulatory changes and identifies when to advise other departments of the impacts on the auto products in various jurisdictions. Corporate Management (10%) Ensures programs and policies are in alignment with corporate, strategic and divisional strategies. Manages risk in area of authority. Prepares, reviews and/or approves and oversees departmental/divisional budgets; ensures management of budget at appropriate level of leadership. Prepares decision requests, Minister briefing notes, SGI board items, Crown Investment Corporation (CIC) board items and/or cabinet information and decision items. Ensures that the Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility, including development, implementation and managing of program components specific to departmental health and safety requirements. Ensures department and program policies, procedures and guidelines are in compliance with applicable federal and provincial legislation and regulations; implements and evaluates changes to legislation and regulations. People Leadership (10%) Builds a high performing workforce by actively leading human resource activities. Ensures development of divisional plans. Builds a culture of leadership and accountability to effectively deliver on strategic and corporate strategies, ensuring integration with employee performance development and career development plans. Drives performance through team members and is committed to leadership development across the company, supporting employees and workforce readiness through mentoring, training and developmental opportunities. Education and Experience Four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study such as Business Administration. Eight years’ experience comprised of four years leadership experience with increasing responsibility and four years’ directly related experience including experience in supporting the development of others. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of project management methodologies and techniques required to plan, manage and execute projects. Knowledge of the insurance industry. Knowledge of automobile and personal property insurance products. Knowledge of regulatory bodies rules and guidelines. Knowledge of organizational units and how they interact to support the Corporation’s operations.
