Description
Position Summary:
As a Service Technician in Training (SIT), you are a driven individual with the ability and willingness to learn all aspects of maintaining a valuable multi-million- dollar asset. SITs should be familiar with hand tools and be mechanically inclined. A successful Service Technician in Training is able to manage their time effectively, is detail oriented, a trustworthy team player, and takes pride in their work. In addition, this position needs to be accountable and attentive to provide excellent customer service skills when interacting with residents, associates and vendors.
Primary Responsibilities:
Learn all aspects of preparing apartments for occupancy including but not limited to: painting, drywall repair, trash out, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical repairs
Learn to perform service requests for residents daily and timely
Learn to perform system repairs on electrical, plumbing, boilers, hot water heaters, HVAC systems, appliances, etc
Learn to perform detailed work with carpentry, drywall repairs and interior/exterior painting, etc
Learn to distinguish when full-paint or touch-up paint is needed, as well as knowledge and ability to identify correct paint sheen and color
Learn to clean pools, monitor chemical balance, maintain logs as required by city ordinances, when applicable
Perform daily grounds maintenance of the property including picking up and disposing of all trash, pet defecation removal, maintain pet waste stations, and sweeping walkways
Learn and participate in property improvements and preventive maintenance scheduled tasks, promptly
Expect to take part in the on-call rotation any time after 90 days of employment
Ensure market ready apartments, common areas and amenities are clean and maintained daily to Weidner’s quality standards
Assist team with distributing resident correspondence and notices while maintaining privacy of confidential and sensitive information
Accompany vendors to vacant and/or occupied units, as needed
Learn to Monitor supplies and maintain equipment
Ensure maintenance shop/custodial area is clean, organized, and professionally presentable at all times
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Mechanical aptitude required
Successful completion of the Service in Training curriculum within 6 months
Able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds, climb ladders and climb multiple flights of stairs at a time
Able to use appliance dolly, push/pull up to 200 pounds
Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Able to be on feet constantly for entire work shift, if applicable
Complete tasks in a safe and efficient manner
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong motivation to learn & contribute on a daily basis
Able to give professional directions clearly in person, over the phone, email, and text
Experienced in Microsoft products preferred (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Yardi and Paycom experience preferred; Willing and able to learn new software programs

Working knowledge of English; detail oriented, well organized
Must agree to a criminal background check and sign an agreement for voluntary drug testing
Must have access to personal vehicle and/or reliable transportation, at all times
Driver’s license, vehicle and vehicle insurance must be valid and unexpired at all times and match the country in which associate will work
