Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Capital Housing, the Housing Manager will be responsible for effective administration, planning, and management of all housing programs and services within Biigtigong Nishnaabeg. This includes the delivery of new housing projects, maintenance of existing housing, management of tenant relations and rental agreements. The Housing Manager will ensure financial accountability and sustainability of the housing program, while working to meet the current and future housing needs of the community in alignment with Biigtigong Nishnaabeg’s values and governance.

Degree or diploma in Business Administration, Finance, Property Management or related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in housing or property management, with strong background in financial administration.
Experience working with First Nation communities and funding programs.
Strong finance literacy and experience in budgeting, financial planning, and reporting.
Knowledge of housing related funding applications and reporting requirements.
Familiarity with asset management systems and housing databases.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate the team.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Ability to build respectful relationships with tenants, staff, contractors and community leadership.
Knowledge of housing regulations, codes and health and safety standards.
Valid G class driver’s license.
Ability to provide clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily operations of housing applications, tenant relations, maintenance schedules, housing inspections.
Develop, implement, and maintain housing policies and procedures.
Manage housing budgets, financial reporting, and all aspects of capital and operations funding related to housing.
Prepare and submit funding applications, proposals and reports for housing programs and projects
Monitor rental payments, implement financial controls and polices to ensure sustainability of housing program.
Coordinate internal and external partners for construction renovations and repair projects.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of housing inventory, maintenance work and tenant files.
Engage with community members to assess housing needs and deliver programs that support sale, affordable, and adequate housing for the First Nation.
