Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to lead the creation and delivery of engaging, impactful educational experiences for adult learners in entrepreneurship, business operations, and product commercialization. This role will design both in-person and online learning content and will be pivotal in ensuring our educational programming is pedagogically sound, learner-centered, and aligned with real-world startup needs.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Design & Content Creation
Design, develop, and implement course curricula for both online and in-person delivery.
Create engaging multimedia content including presentations, workbooks, case studies, video scripts, and downloadable resources.
Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), mentors, and program staff to ensure content relevance and accuracy.
Align learning materials with adult learning principles and entrepreneurial competencies.
Learning Management & Delivery
Structure course modules within a Learning Management System (LMS) to optimize user experience.
Support the facilitation of blended and asynchronous programming as needed.
Design instructional materials that can be used by internal facilitators or external experts.
Establish templates, standards, and guidelines for program content to ensure cohesive programming across modules and programs
Assessment & Evaluation
Develop robust learning assessment tools such as quizzes, reflection prompts, peer reviews, and project-based evaluations.
Use analytics, surveys, quizzes, and learner feedback to iterate and improve course design.
Ensure alignment with program outcomes and performance metrics.
Audit and refresh existing LMS content to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with learning objectives
Research & Innovation
Stay abreast of the latest research on adult learning, instructional technologies, and entrepreneurial education.
Propose innovative approaches to increase learner engagement and retention.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Adult Learning, or a related field.
3+ years of experience designing educational content for adult learners, preferably in business or entrepreneurship contexts.
Strong understanding of adult learning theories (e.g. andragogy, experiential learning, transformative learning).
Demonstrated experience using LMS platforms (Disco or similar).
Proficiency in content development tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with startup ecosystems, entrepreneurs, or entrepreneurial education. First-hand knowledge of start-ups would be greatly beneficial to the role.
Skill in graphic design, video creation, survey design, etc. would be highly beneficial.
Experience creating inclusive and accessible learning experiences (e.g. AODA compliance).
Data-driven mindset with experience applying learning analytics.
