Ensure reasonableness of account balances. Analyze, review, verify, monitor and track transactions for operating and capital expenditures and staffing data, including extracting departmental data from forecasting/budgeting system. Analysis of monthly variances of actual expenditures from planned. Prepare monthly financial reporting for review by Senior Leadership Team. Provide guidance, advice and support to departments on budgeting and forecasting as well as financial inquiries as it relates to business decision making. Prepare and participate in consolidation of variance analysis to support departmental input for EMC and Board of Directors financial reports. Undertake or participate in special projects, as assigned (e.g. benchmarking, business process analysis, cost analysis) Work with Technology project managers to transfer completed projects to fixed assets on a timely basis. Provide consolidation and synthesis of departmental forecast/budget to contribute to the development of overall NAV CANADA budgets, financial plans, and presentations to EMC and Board of Directors. Provide periodic and ad hoc reports and annual submissions of budget reporting and respond to departmental and Corporate Controllership requests for information and reports. Develop solid understanding of NAV CANADA business plan, delegation of financial authority, budgeting, forecasting and accounting policies and procedures. Job Requirements Education: Graduation with a bachelor's degree or diploma from a recognized university or college and acceptable specialization in commerce, business administration or related field. Professional accounting designation (e.g. CPA) is an asset. Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in financial accounting and analysis. Experience in financial analysis and manipulating large volumes of data. This would include strong computer skills, particularly with Excel, and the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise form. Knowledge: Knowledge of accounting for operating and capital expenditure in accordance with IFRS, financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting, and financial administration policies, processes and/or procedures. Knowledge of research, data collection, validation, verification and analysis methods and techniques for financial reporting and control systems. Knowledge of presentation, consultation, and writing methods and techniques, as well as various software applications, automated tools and systems to carry out the work. Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to provide consultation and hands-on assistance to a client community. Ability to work independently with minimum direction and supervision in a fast-paced demanding environment. Ability to handle multiple client requests, initiatives and conflicting deadlines with confidence and appropriate level of management involvement. Ability to review materials for accuracy and completeness and take appropriate action. Working conditions: This position is based at the Ottawa Head Office and is a hybrid position with a minimum – 1 day per week on site. However, effective this Fall (2025) there is a requirement of the employee to be in the office a minimum of 3 days per week.
