NETGEAR is seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented Wireless Test Engineer Co-op to work within our Home Networking business unit. This is an 8-month temporary full-time role that will be on-site 5 days/week at our Richmond location.
Key Responsibilities:
• Exposure to industry-level design and development of GUI software, using structured Agile-based
software development practices.
• Develop tools to test and measure performance of cutting-edge wireless networking hardware.
• Test NETGEAR Wireless Products in our test facilities.
• Write up detailed test reports for Radio Frequency (RF) team.
• Create RF Test database.
• Learn various network protocols (UDP, TCP, FTP) and the latest wireless data communication
technologies (5G, WiFi6, WiFi7).
• Utilize state-of-the-art Radio Frequency equipment.
• Automate the control of test instruments over USB and Ethernet interfaces.
• Design and develop User Interfaces for configuring and executing tests, and reporting test
results.
• Maintain, upgrade and debug any hardware-related problems in the test system
• Document your contributions to the automation software.
Required Qualifications:
• BSEE/CE/CS student with a GPA 3.0+.
• Broad understanding of telecommunications and wireless/cellular systems.
• Good understanding of TCP/IP.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience coding in Python 3.x using Git/GitHub and virtual environments.
• Ability to work independently with good interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, especially in Windows.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Visio, Pearl, Python, C++, Selenium.
• Knowledge and/or experience with robotics.
• Good understanding of one or more wireless standards: WLAN (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be/ad/ay),
2G, 3G & 4G, 5G (sub 6/mmW), DECT, BT, Zigbee, UWB, Zwave.
• Basic soldering skills.
• Proficiency in on-boarding and upgrading the PCs to latest or BETA, running Windows, Linux,
and Mac.• Experience designing GUIs using QtDesigner following MVC pattern.
• Knowledge of packages such as Matplotlib, NumPy, and PyQt5.
• Familiarity with either ADB shell or Linux shell commands.
• Basic understanding of WiFi and LTE/5G terminology.
