The Opportunity:
We’re looking for a Registered Plans Specialist to join our Operations team.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Registered Plans, the Registered Plans Specialist is responsible for ensuring the overall administration of registered plans is consistent and in accordance with company policies, Canada Revenue Agency income tax rulings, governing pension legislation and MFDA and IIROC regulations.
The Registered Plans Specialist is a subject matter expert (SME) who provides guidance and quality assurance for the Registered Plans Administrators and is the departmental contact for audits.

What your day looks like:
Subject Matter Expert of CIRO (formerly IIROC and MFDA) registered plans administration, providing guidance to Registered Plans Administrators, ensuring quality of work
A reference for the administration of registered plan products and processing of requests such as Federal and Provincial Locked-In plans (de-registration, un-locking, specialized withdrawals, etc.), and reviewing accounts to ensure that all documents are accurate and transactions are completed within SLAs
Provides reporting for plan accounts, including quarterly and annual reports
Completion of CIRO Registered Plan audits within internal and regulatory deadlines
Review and confirm instructions on portal, with special attention to posting instructions for year-end calculations and tax reporting for RSP/RIF/LIF
Responsible for trustee reporting, working closely with trustees to ensure that all trustee policy and procedures are adhered to and communicated properly
An active participant in projects related to registered plans and appropriate industry meetings, including year-end projects and reporting
Creates documentation and training materials to share any registered plans updates to policy or departmental processes and procedures and pro-actively make recommendations for improvement
Your experience and skills:
Post-secondary degree in business or financial administration preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience in registered plans administration in an IIROC or MFDA environment
Industry knowledge of CIRO (formerly MFDA, IIROC), CRA and RQ rules and regulations
Completion of the CSC or IFIC is an asset
Working knowledge of MS Office suite, in particular Excel
Experience with Dataphile is an asset
Ability to work independently and in a team environment, including providing guidance and support to junior team members
Solid analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks with appropriate attention to detail
Ability to work calmly, accurately and effectively in a fast-paced environment to meet time sensitive deadlines
Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset

Salary
This position is posted with an expected salary range of $55,000 - $65,000 CAD annually. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
