POSITION FUNCTION:
We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated part-time Accounting Clerk to perform accounting duties. The successful candidate will have a basic knowledge of accounting. You will have strong interpersonal skills that will allow you to work effectively with the team, other departments, and people at all levels in the organization. If you are flexible, take accountability for your work and want to work as part of a dedicated group, we want you to join our team.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process accounts payable and expense reimbursement in compliance with organization policies and procedures
Production and distribution of cheques and EFTs
Setup vendor codes and maintain vendor payment information
Investigate and resolve accounts payable discrepancies
Respond to staff and vendor inquires related to disbursements
Relief support for other accounting clerks
Other duties, as assigned by Accounting Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge: Office procedures, standard office equipment, basic accounting principles; knowledge of BC Employment Standards and payroll is an asset
Education: Completion of secondary school and completion of one-year payroll program or equivalent experience
Skills/Abilities:
Experience with Sage 300, Sage APA (Beanworks) or similar software is an asset
Proficient in MS Office products, particularly Excel
Good verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
Effective organization abilities, attention to detail, take initiative, ability to multitask and tactful patient approach
Experience:
Two years of related accounts payables or accounting experience
Experience working in a non-profit and multicultural environment is an asset
Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing, bending, and ability to lift 10 kg
Other: Current, satisfactory Criminal Record Check Required
HOURS: Up to 14 hours per week until March 31, 2026; may be required to work evenings and/or weekends on occasion, as needed, with time off to be taken in lieu.
Candidate must be able to commute to 5575 Boundary Rd. Vancouver, British Columbia
BENEFITS:
A competitive benefits package is provided with contracts of at least 1 year in length and which offer a minimum of 17.5 hours of work per week.
