Job Description What you will do: The Lead Product Designer provides thought leadership, strategic advice and expertise to senior stakeholders and design peers on the usage and creation of design standards in digital experiences. You will ensure outstanding product design quality and shape the current and future design practice. Your role leads cross-cutting, complex projects, enabling design and delivery of standards to define and shape a meaningful exchange between our clients and RBC through the digital products we create. You're an individual contributor with extensive, in-depth Interaction Design, interdisciplinary and business knowledge, who advances the practice of the Design team. You demonstrate deep domain knowledge, facilitating the development of innovative solutions while navigating complexity and ambiguity to make decisions on undefined problems across multiple initiatives. You will lead project planning inclusively and collaboratively, advise on strategic initiatives, contribute to the development of business objectives and principles, as well as define and direct design work. What you will work on: Your expertise will shine and come to life with focus on these 2 aspects: Product Design Design Strategy Act as the interaction design subject-matter expert for the product design team Break down complex topics and communicate them to a broad audience Facilitate design critique, evaluate interactions for inclusivity and provide expert advice and guidance to cross-functional teams and stakeholders Facilitate ideation sessions and collaborative work activities Use visualizations and interactions to support analytic thinking with large data sets Artifact Creation Use a comprehensive understanding of interaction design theory, visual design theory, research data and best practices to inform design decisions Create complex low-fidelity sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to explore, communicate, and validate ideas Create complex prototypes to provide delivery specifications for development Present interaction design work to more senior stakeholders Research and Testing Facilitate usability testing Participate in or initiate research activities Research interaction design strategies in the financial services sector and perform competitive audits pertinent to specific design or business goals Perform pattern, micro-interaction, and component design audits where appropriate DI Design System Libraries Your experience with Design Systems and creation of components will helps us continue delivering a consistent, high-quality experience for our customers while working as efficiently as possible. This role is for someone who wants an opportunity to flex their craft skills and act as our expert in Design Systems, who will: Work on Direct Investing Components, user interface guidelines for both web and mobile. Collaborate with our central Design Systems team and design partners across the bank collaborating for the definition of core components. Provide guidance to DI team members with advice and techniques that improve their understanding and mastery of design systems. Contribute to the creation of reusable components, utilities, and libraries within Figma and contribute to coded components. What you need to succeed: Must have: BA/BS degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), Systems Design / Human Factors Engineering or a related field or equivalent practical experience A minimum of 7 years of experience in designing and developing usable interfaces across multiple platforms Demonstrated ability to articulate design strategy, rationale, and logic; describing benefits and highlighting risks associated with design decisions Strong expertise with Figma, accessibility, agile methodologies and user experience metrics Has experience designing web and mobile native user interfaces Experience creating or contributing to a design system Nice to have: MA/MS degree or certification in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), Systems Design / Human Factors Engineering or a related field or equivalent practical experience or a related field Experience working within a large organization and within an agile environment Experience supporting and collaborating on the creation of robust Design Systems What’s in it for you?
