We’re looking for a Design Engineer-in-Training (EIT) – Network Project Engineering to join our team. In this role, you’ll work closely with Project Engineers and other stakeholders to support the design and delivery of projects for both internal and external customers. As a Design EIT, you will assist with scoping and conceptual development, perform preliminary and detailed designs under the guidance of a Senior Engineer, and contribute to construction support and project close-out activities. Major Responsibilities: Work with internal and external customers and technical experts to determine the complete scope of the project and formulate the design execution plan, including schedule, to meet the project requirements. Working with the Project Manager, establish conceptual project schedules for design activities based on customer’s needs and timelines. Demonstrate ownership of project success by proactively identifying and resolving challenges and dependencies to Engineering deliverables. Work with external customers to clarify ENMAX standards, guidelines, and requirements. Prepare draft design scopes of work that capture the technical requirements of the project when not completing design activities. Planning and creation of detailed designs for new construction, additions, and modifications to EPC infrastructure. Performs calculations and studies necessary for design. Identify any non-standard material or design requirements at the scoping stage and assist with the Management of Change Process. Identify any long lead material at the scoping stage. Identify any gaps in standards and guidelines and develop recommendations for updates of technical documentation to the Team Lead. Implement QA/QC controls of drawings and Engineering Work Packages and ensure high quality deliverables are issued for construction. Ensure all applicable engineering, industry and ENMAX Corporation standards, codes, regulations and public safety are applied in designs. Identify, establish, and schedule inspection and test plans when required and ensure inspection points are coordinated during construction. Review construction Requests for Information and consult with required parties and provide responses. Ensure project information is stored appropriately, and that technical closeout of projects is completed in a timely manner. Assist the Project Manager in lessons learned and close-out reporting activities Ensure the safety of our staff, contractors, and the public is held as paramount in everything we do. Education Required: Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering Registered as an Engineer-in-Training with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) Qualifications & Experience: 0-4 years of experience with a power utility with directly applicable experience in Engineering or project management. Familiarity with industry codes and standards including CSA, CEC, Utility and ENMAX distribution standards. Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to attend site visits. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Competencies: Demonstrated accountability and ownership in managing projects or tasks, taking initiative to keep work on track despite barriers, ambiguity, or time constraints. Proactively identifies problems, anticipates challenges, and develops solutions before issues become risks. Effectively manages technical project scope while balancing competing priorities from internal and external stakeholders. Salary: Engineer in Training Family Level A (Current CUPE 2025 rates) $81,593.69 - $86,692.06 - $91,790.4396,888.79 - $101,987.16 Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB).
