Position Overview
Reporting to the Assistant Tax Manager, the Tax Accountant is hands-on and responsible for ensuring all international VAT, GST, and sales tax returns are prepared and filed according to statutory requirements and payments are made by the respective deadlines.
You’ll be able to develop your international tax skills and learn more about VAT, GST and sales tax as applicable to e-commerce and fintech industries.
Responsibilities
Work with the Assistant Tax Manager and external tax preparers to ensure that all indirect tax returns—such as VAT, GST, and sales tax—are prepared and submitted on time in all the countries and jurisdictions where the Reach group operates.
Maintain tax payment position across the group worldwide.
Monitor changes in international tax legislation.
Build your indirect tax technical skills and get exposure to direct taxes.
Participate in strategic tax projects and initiatives.
2+ years of experience as an accountant or tax accountant
University degree in tax, accounting or finance
Strong attention to detail
Well-organized and able to meet deadlines
Additional assets (please highlight any of those on your resume/CV):
Professional tax or accounting qualification, or qualification in progress
Broad experience with US sales tax
Understanding of VAT/GST
Experience in working with third-party tax preparers and tax advisers
Knowledge of Jira/Confluence/Google Workspace, an advanced Excel user

Location and Hours of Work
This full-time role, 40 hours per week, will be based in Calgary, AB. We support hybrid working and spend three days per week in the office.
