We are looking for Payroll and Benefits Specialist to oversee and administer payroll processing and employee benefits programs. Ensuring that procedures are compliant, efficient, and current and responsible for employee benefits function including education, enrollment, and compliance. As a member of the HR team, the Payroll and Benefits Specialist will also play a role in other HR administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the administration of full cycle payroll processed semi-monthly for a salary and hourly employees, including calculating on-calls, after hours and commissions
Manage benefits programs and saving plans, including enrollments, terminations, and annual open enrollment (?)
Maintain and update personnel records in internal systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Prepare employee forms such as verification of employment and income tax forms
Act as the main point of contact for employees for payroll, time and attendance (vacations, leaves), and benefits inquiries from employees and management.
Coordinate with finance and prepare payroll and benefits reports
Educate employees on payroll processes, benefit plans, and policy changes.
Assist in developing and implementing improvements to payroll processes, benefits programs, and other related initiatives to enhance efficiency and compliance.
Coordinate with third-party payroll and benefit providers
Responsible for employees’ expenses and expense report system
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation – an asset
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in payroll and benefits administration role
Strong knowledge of payroll processing systems (preferred ADP).
Understanding of payroll tax laws, labor regulations, and benefits compliance.
Experience with multi-state payroll processing (US and Canada)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and HRIS systems.
