English Version Follows Votre rôle En tant qu'avocat·e de litige, votre rôle consistera à vous impliquer activement dans des dossiers litigieux, tant en défense qu'en demande. Vous gérerez des dossiers sous la supervision d'associé·e·s et/ou d’avocats ou avocates sénior. Vous plaiderez devant les tribunaux québécois de même que ceux des ordres professionnels. Vous toucherez à tous les aspects du litige et participerez à l'élaboration et à la mise en place de stratégies ainsi qu'aux échanges avec les clients et les experts. Vos responsabilités Mener et gérer des litiges en équipe avec les associé·e·s et avocat·e·s de Clyde & Co, de même qu'avec les clients; Fournir des conseils et avis juridiques dans des domaines variés, notamment en droit de la construction, droit des assurances, responsabilité civile et professionnelle, entre autres; Travailler étroitement avec les experts pour préparer et exposer la position des clients; Comprendre et synthétiser des questions parfois plus complexes, tant sur les aspects légaux, factuels que techniques; Préparer et mener des interrogatoires parfois seul·e ou en équipe; Rédiger des procédures, mémoires et autres demandes à la Cour; Présenter et plaider tout type de requêtes et demandes à la Cour, et participer à des médiations et des procès; S'acquitter d'autres responsabilités en lien avec ce rôle ou suite à l'émergence de nouvelles priorités d'affaires. Vos compétences et votre expérience Diplôme en droit civil d'une université reconnue; Membre en règle du Barreau du Québec; 3 à 7 ans d'expérience pertinente en litige, en particulier dans les domaines du droit de l'assurance, de la construction, du litige commercial et de la responsabilité professionnelle; Aptitudes marquées pour la communication et les relations interpersonnelles, avec une très bonne maîtrise de l'anglais et du français, tant à l'oral qu'à l'écrit, ainsi qu'un excellent dossier académique et professionnel; Sens aguerri de l'organisation, de même qu'au plan de l'analyse et de la synthèse; Excellents jugement et raisonnement juridique; Intégrité, grande rigueur et souci du détail; Talent de négociateur et sens des affaires; Habiletés en ce qui a trait au développement de stratégies; Aisance à développer des liens de confiance avec les clients et autres partenaires externes, le cas échéant, de même qu'avec les associé·e·s, les autres avocat·e·s et le personnel du cabinet à tous les niveaux; Esprit d'équipe et de collaboration. *** The Role As a litigation lawyer, your duties will consist of actively participating in litigation cases, including both defence and claims. You will manage cases under the supervision of partners and/or senior associates. You will plead before the Quebec courts as well as before professional boards. You will be involved in all aspects of litigation and will participate in creating and implementing strategies as well as discussions with clients and experts. You may also be called upon to work in monitoring files. This is a fee earner position which is part of a professional job family. Key Responsibilities Conduct and manage litigation files as part of the team of Clyde & Co partner(s) and lawyer(s) as well as with clients. Provide counsel and legal advice in various fields, particularly construction, civil and professional liability, amongst others. Work closely with experts to prepare and present clients’ positions. Understand and summarize issues that can be complex in legal as well as factual and technical matters. Prepare and lead examinations on discovery sometimes alone or as part of a team. Draft proceedings, petitions, factums and other applications to the Court. Introduce and defend all types of petitions and applications to the Court, and participate in mediation and trials. Fulfil other responsibilities relating to this role or resulting from the emergence of new business priorities. Essential Skills & Experience Degree in civil law from a reputable university. Member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec. 3 to 7 years of relevant litigation experience, particularly insurance law, construction, commercial litigation and professional liability. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in both spoken and written English and French as well as an outstanding academic and professional record. Excellent organization, analysis and summarization skills. Sound judgement and legal reasoning. Integrity, rigor and attention to detail. Talent for negotiation and business acumen. Abilities in strategy development. Ability to develop trusted connections with clients and other external stakeholders, when applicable, as well as with partners, other lawyers and all levels of firm staff. Collaborative team spirit.
