BASIC FUNCTION: To provide construction project management support to senior project manager and the Project Management Office (PMO). RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensuring that all work relating to the projects complies with WCB and health/safety regulations and that all personnel or contractor performing the work are qualified and following WCB guidelines Perform Pre-Job Briefings for personnel and contractors, and sign in/out of contractors for access to TRIUMF facility Ensuring appropriate documentation for the project including the health and safety is maintained during the project execution Support senior project manager in executing the projects on site and in the office work Help senior project manager for coordination of the projects with workers and outside contractors Provide project managers with reports from schedules and other project-tracking tools. Provide support and best practices to others preparing project schedules using Microsoft Project. Develop standard templates, framework and procedures to achieve consistency in planning process and methodologies. Collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze project performance as requested by project management and other stakeholders. Develop and prepare reports for monitoring milestones and analyzing resources across multiple projects. Help to fulfill the mandate of the PMO SUPERVISION EXERCISED: The position has no reports but will direct and coordinate technical staff in the execution of tasks for projects. The project manager may be asked to teach or coach a newly hired project manager or manager in the use of project management tools used at TRIUMF KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Basic knowledge of construction project management processes Understanding of WorkSafe BC and WCB regulations as related to construction Ability to complete detail-oriented tasks effectively and consistently with high quality Practical knowledge of Project Management tools and techniques Excellent working knowledge of Excel and of MS Project, and other related software and management information systems to support project execution MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Diploma or certification in a relevant program of study, ideally related to Project Management or Engineering. At least 4+ years of planning and project-management experience in the construction field, providing support to several projects simultaneously including a high level of proficiency with tools. Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada on a permanent basis (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident).
