Hiring Unit: Office of the Dean of Students (Office for Sexual Violence Response, Support and Education) Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Sexual Violence Education Advisor (Outreach), the Communications Assistant (OSVRSE social media) will maintain the office’s social media presence and lead a team of volunteers that will create weekly social media posts. The incumbent will also be responsible for contributing to the creation of graphic design content for OSVRSE’s branding, campaigns, and event promotion. The position would be up to 10 hours per week for the academic year with a possibility of renewal. While training and onboarding take place in person in at the start of employment, the job is a mix of in-person and remote work throughout the year. Job Content – Tasks and Responsibilities: · Monitor OSVRSE’s social media platforms (Instagram and Facebook) · Lead a team of 5 to 10 social media volunteers · Support the Sexual Violence Education Advisor in volunteer training (September/October) and ongoing professional development · Assist in the creation of OSVRSE’s annual social media campaign in collaboration with volunteers · Collaborate on the creation of a style guide for OSVRSE’s annual social media campaign with volunteers, and ensure it is used uniformly year-long · Communicate with stakeholders (i.e., University partners, speakers and/or participants) · Gather and summarize information for annual social media report and make recommendations for future years · Assist with OSVRSE outreach events (e.g., tabling) The list of functions outlined above is representative and not a complete and detailed list of tasks which may be performed by an incumbent. Requirements: Returning student in an undergraduate or graduate degree program Eligible for McGill’s Work Study Program Must have your own laptop/device with access to social media Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities · Ability to take initiative and display leadership skills · Excellent written and visual communication and presentation skills · Strong organizational and time management skills · Strong information literacy skills (i.e., ability to define research terms, amalgamate information, and critically evaluate resources) · Ability to work with Office 365 and social media platforms · Experience creating posts/or events on Facebook and Instagram · Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva is an asset · Experience with editing is an asset · Experience with volunteer coordination an asset · Experience and/or interest and knowledge of consent, sex positivity and sexual violence prevention is an asset Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.
