The Crew Manager is responsible for the end to end management of the employee life cycle. They are primarily responsible for resource management across our global artist workforce; ensuring optimum utilization targets are met, crew have a positive employee experience and that projects have their resource requirements met. Crew Managers are part of the Crew Management vertical and are the face of the business work of our artist workforce. This role suits a candidate who thrives in a fast paced VUCA environment, enjoys scheduling and has a proven track record in data-informed problem solving. Candidates must be proficient in excel, google sheets.

Key Responsibilities
Resource Planning & Crewing:
Evaluate department’s incoming resource demand vs current supply to identify any upcoming capacity requirements that may trigger approval for hiring requisitions with the Talent team
Complete artist crewing and scheduling for assigned departments with input from
Division Supervisors where necessary
QC and validate weekly Department Resource Report and take part in weekly Resource
Meetings with assigned Resource managers to review and resolve resource challenges
Maintain weekly contact with the Show Production team to gather, review and address any resource challenges along with feedback on performance that may require action
Maintains overview of utilization using established resource management tracking systems in G-Suite and Shotgrid
Partner with Division Supervisors and appropriate stakeholders where utilization and prioritization require further context
Works collaboratively with all peers and stakeholders, including the Executive Board
Employee Life Cycle Management:
Responsible for the management of artists day to day in regards to queries, absence, performance, time-logging, annual reviews, next show opportunities and contract extensions; the Crew Manager manages the end to end employee life-cycle for their assigned crew
Manage crew off boarding process including ensuring exit interview with Talent has been completed and recorded.
Crew Managers work closely with the Global Head of Resourcing and the Talent team when people issues arise, anticipating and mitigating where possible and escalating to direct line manager in a timely manner
Crew Managers create an environment of excellence underpinned with care and empathy
Crew Managers are the face of Scanline VFX for their assigned crew, they should be comfortable acting as an ambassador for the brand and championing the creative and production excellence we are renowned for
Performance Management, Development & Retention:
Trigger and conduct performance review at the end of each crew’s assigned show with Lead, Show Production and Supervisors. Collaborate with HoD and Talent team to provide feedback always with individual professional growth in mind
Collaborate with the HoD and Talent team to customize and implement training around feedback and artist’s career progression
Motivate and care for the crew, assist in troubleshooting issues with the Talent team and other managers for best solutions
Lead initiatives to boost team morale and foster professional growth; partner with facilities teams for coordination
Qualifications
Knowledge of VFX workflows and an interest in keeping up with industry innovation and trends and inherent impact to crew
Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to get results through others without having direct control over those resources
Has the soft skills required to support and nurture relationships between crew members, managers, Heads of Departments, and to navigate potentially difficult conversations to create positive outcomes
A proven ability to work successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and skill sets
Highly organized and detail focused
Ideally competent user of Google suite, Microsoft Excel and Shotgrid
A proven affinity for performing in a fast paced, high change environment
An interest in learning and development and the management of professional development

$75,000 - $115,000 a year
This salary range is specific to applicants applying to our position in Vancouver, BC. To determine your base salary, we consider your qualifications, skills, and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary outside of this range and will also be dependent on your location.
