We serve eight member communities consisting of Berens River First Nation, Brokenhead Ojibway Nation, Bloodvein First Nation, Black River First Nation, Hollow Water First Nation, Little Grand Rapids First Nation, Pauingassi First Nation and Poplar River First Nation.
We are seeking an indefinite term Finance Clerk to join our team.
Under the direction of The Director of Finance, the Finance Clerk is responsible for providing comprehensive administrative and financial support to ensure the efficient operation of the department. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting bookkeeping activities, while also managing documentation and office systems. The position plays a key role in supporting the organization’s administrative efficiency through diligent recordkeeping, data entry, and reconciliation tasks.

Administrative Support
Prepare, edit, and format a variety of documents including invoices, reports, memos, letters, and financial statements using word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
Maintain an organized records management system, including the classification and coding of both electronic and hard copy files.
Operate general office equipment such as photocopiers, fax machines, voicemail systems, and scanners.

Financial Administration
Undertake basic bookkeeping tasks, including accounts payable and receivable, as well as account reconciliations.
Receive, verify, and process invoices and cheque requisitions.
Enter data for invoices and cheque requisitions and assist with cheque processing.
Provide support for the preparation of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and pre-paid expense schedules.
Verify and correct financial claim forms and enter as general journal entries into the accounting software.
Reconcile advances and provide monthly and quarterly financial updates.
Conduct annual audit reconciliations to identify discrepancies between advances provided and expenditures claimed.
Update and maintain expenditure records and analyze financial records for accuracy.
Follow up on discrepancies and manage outstanding accounts payable and receivable.
Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills
Accounting or Business Administration degree/diploma, and/or Computerized Accounting Diploma and/or Certification from a recognized institution in Manitoba/Canada.
A combination of post-secondary courses in accounting or an equivalent combination of education & experience as determined by SERDC will be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Three (3) consecutive years’ accounting/finance experience in a First Nation and/or Not-For-Profit environment.
Three (3) years or more experience working with SAGE 300 accounting software.
Experience and knowledge of accounts payable A/P, accounts receivable A/R.
Capable and excellent understanding and application of Microsoft Office programs.
Working Conditions
Travel may be required to liaise with employees in other office locations and to attend meetings.
Must have access to a reliable insured vehicle and valid Manitoba Driver’s License.
Generally, work in an office environment – fast paced and busy at times.
Work a standard work week of 40hrs.
Additional hours beyond the standard regular hours of work may be required.
Adhere to all SERDC policies.
