We currently have an exciting opportunity as Plant Buyer (12 Month Contract) This role is based in our Edmonton plant and reports to the Purchasing Lead. Job Summary: The incumbent will be responsible for Sites’ indirect Purchasing activities. Active in Supplier Selection & Rationalization, Cost Negotiations and Inventory Management. The buyer will execute purchases consistent with parameters set out by the budgetary and forecasting exercises to support business needs and identify opportunities and implement initiatives to improve site efficiencies. Respond to the needs for procurement of goods and services to support the site’s operations & efficiency. Principal Responsibilities: Responsible for Indirect Items Site Purchasing Handle Supplier relations, Cost-saving initiatives, Implement purchases while considering budgets and forecasts that support business Implement efficiency improvement initiatives Provides direction, instructions, and guidance to Plant personnel as part of their role as Procurement Representatives at their respective site(s). Monitor supplier performance and keep Plants abreast of potential supply chain risks Use of Planning or Requisitioning Systems to complete analysis of requirements and creation of purchase orders for Direct items Sourcing & Procurement of Indirect Items as requested Monitor KANBAN/Min-Max to manage inventory levels to ensure that the site has materials to run daily operations efficiently Negotiate pricing and Supply Agreements on selected items, constantly re-examining and re-evaluating existing contracts while maintaining strong supplier relationships Work with Strategic Sourcing on Site contract implementation & commercial management activities Qualifications & Experience: Post –Secondary Education in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration Minimum 5 years’ proven purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment SCMP / CPM accreditation is an asset Intermediate knowledge of Excel/Microsoft Office Knowledge in the Thermoplastics pipe and fittings industry is an asset Excellent negotiation and teamwork skills Well-developed organization and prioritization skills; detail-oriented Strong analytical, decision-making & problem-solving skills IPEX is committed to providing accommodations for people with disabilities throughout the recruitment process and, upon request, will work with qualified job applicants to provide suitable accommodation in a manner that takes into account the applicant’s accessibility needs due to disability.
