Primary Purpose
Job Role
The Job Developer’s role is to acquire employment opportunities that support the career placement process at CCTB. The primary objective of this role is to develop strong partnerships with employers to generate meaningful and appropriate work placement opportunities.
The ideal candidate will have a background in B2B sales, strong networking skills, and familiarity with CRM systems (Hubspot preferred). A deep understanding of the local labour market and a passion for enabling meaningful, sustainable, and successful student outcomes are essential to succeed in this position.
CCTB’s students range in age from 18 to 35, including domestic and international students with prior work experience in the tech industry.
This role requires excellent capacity to work independently. In addition, this role requires astute capacity to meet targets, as errors may result in negative implications in institutional compliance and inaccurate reporting of student employment outcomes to federal and provincial regulatory agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Job and Business Development Duties:
Conduct proactive employer outreach to identify work placement opportunities for students;
Establish and nurture relationships with local, regional, and national employers across industries in hospitality, business, and information technology;
Organize and execute monthly on-campus or virtual employer events, site visits, career fairs, and panel discussions;
Promote the value of hiring international and domestic students in hospitality, business, and information technology;
Match students with appropriate work placements and provide follow-up support to ensure employer and student satisfaction;
Serve as primary contact for employers to address any challenges in work placements;
Work Placement Research, Reporting, and Documentation:
Use CRM (Hubspot) to track and manage employer contacts, interactions, and placement progress;
Conduct ongoing labour market research to identify emerging employment trends and in-demand skills;
Maintain accurate records of employer partnerships, student job outcomes, and placement statistics
Using spreadsheets and CRM software to monitor work placement assignments
Position Requirements
Education and Experience:
A post-secondary credential is required;
At least 2 years’ experience in job development, business development, work placement, and related fields is strongly recommended;
Proven success in sales, recruitment, or outreach roles with measurable outcomes is required;
Experience working in an intercultural environment is required;
Experience with database management/student information systems is recommended;
Intermediate computer skills – experience in MS Office 365, especially Excel and Word, is required;
Knowledge and Skills:
Strong communication skills in all forms including written and verbal;
Strong presentation skills and ability to build trust with stakeholders is required;
Willingness to learn and receive constructive criticism is vital to succeed in this role;
Intercultural competence or successful experience in intercultural settings is required;
Excellent planning, organizational, and multi-tasking skills;
Demonstrated high level of customer service and attention to detail are required;
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with many deadlines;
Punctual, self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently and under supervision
Additional Information:
Hybrid work environment with flexible on-site work is expected in this role;
Some evening and weekend hours may be required to attend recruitment/employment events or employer meetings;
Must have access to reliable transportation for employer outreach and engagement activities, preferably with their own vehicle and a Class 5 driver’s license;
