Reporting to the Senior Manager, Health & Safety you will be responsible for collaborating with union partners and internal teams to develop and deliver health and safety initiatives, resolve store-specific concerns, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements across multiple provinces. In this role, you will lead policy development, oversee ergonomic assessments, manage day-to-day health and safety operations, and liaise with external regulatory bodies to maintain and enhance the company’s health and safety standards. You will be responsible for: Working jointly with our Union partners on Health & Safety initiatives and resolving store specific Health & Safety related concerns while developing and delivering joint training. Developing new initiatives and policies with the senior leadership, WorkSafe and WCB in all provinces. Liaising with WorkSafeBC and WCB Board Officers in all provinces and challenging Board Officers on compliance issues. Assisting stores with orders to ensure compliance and following up to confirm that all corrective actions have been implemented. Developing health & safety policies and safe work procedures. Reviewing store plans, interpreting regulations and assisting in designing and providing ergonomic advice for store remodels and new stores. Working with the Claims team and assisting with return to work and accommodation files when needed. Conducting ergonomic risk assessments and workstation modifications for the accommodation process. Overseeing the day-to-day operations, and assigning projects and tasks to Health & Safety team. Overseeing the COR BC and AB Programs including liaising with certifying partners. Liaising with Senior Health & Safety Manager and Regional Directors to resolve store level health & safety issues. Reviewing and updating the Pattison Food Group Health & Safety Program, ensuring compliance with all federal, provincial, and regional regulations. Providing guidance, direction, and support to stores to identify and control site-specific hazards. You have: A post-secondary education in health and safety management or equivalent work experience. 2+ years of experience in a Health and Safety related role. Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) Certification. Knowledge of health and safety legislation in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the Yukon, including First Aid and Global Harmonized System (GHS). An understanding of the BC COR Program and the Alberta Safety Council (ASC)/Partnerships Audit. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite. A valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle. Travel Requirements: You will be required to travel to stores within your region 2-3 times per month. Air and ferry travel across Western Canada may be required (to assist in new store openings or provide support). You are: A strong communicator, both verbal and written with exceptional interpersonal skills. Professional, with the ability to handle information with a high degree of tact and confidentiality. An analytical problem solver who is detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills. Able to prioritize effectively, make decisions quickly and work under pressure.
