Job Description As a Senior Developer you will work on exciting projects transforming RBC’s core banking capabilities and have opportunities to learn new technologies as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve with our customer’s needs. We need our technical staff to exhibit an engineering mindset, be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full technology stack. This core application is a large, sophisticated mainframe-based system which connects RBC clients to their banking products and services across the bank. Client systems serve as the backbone to many of our Digital Platforms like Mobile and Online Banking and also serve critical function of maintaining AML and compliance data that is paramount to ensuring our regulatory compliance. What you will do Design, develop, test, deploy, support and evolve software to deliver banking services. Manage individual priorities, deadlines and deliverables. Assess and analyze business and technical requirements in order to provide estimates and establish plans and timelines Create, update and contribute to critical documentation relevant to the projects Provide timely and quality service to Business and IT stakeholders, developing successful working relationships to improve overall quality of Client applications. Manages and prioritizes support issues and production problems to efficiently respond to business and operational needs and performs system monitoring, trouble-shooting and status reporting Provides SME advice and development support to Delivery Team and other Enterprise Applications such as testing, walkthroughs, code promotion and problem resolution to assist with the overall success of project delivery. What you need to succeed Have 8+ years of experience with IBM mainframe technologies such as COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, Endevor, Java/Websphere, etc. Knowledge or related experience working in a mainframe development or production environment supporting financial and client-based applications Knowledge of software development practices, concepts, and technology obtained through formal training and/or work experience Knowledge of required programming languages and can code with little oversight. Working knowledge of multiple database technologies, cloud and cloud based environments Knowledge of software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source code management, build processes and testing; Experience with code merging and branching methodologies using Git and code release process Nice-to-have Experience with Java, Spring Framework and REST APIs Engineering Transformation mindset, using Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) approach Experience with leveraging AI Tools in a mainframe environment What’s in it for you?
