Lyft needs experienced engineers from a scope of disciplines. As a Backend Engineer on the Scheduled Rides, you will build new, differentiated products that improve riders' and drivers' experience with rideshare and make it easy to choose Lyft every time. Your role will be essential in ensuring Lyft's premium planned-rides offering is both dependable and a delightful user experience. On projects, you will work closely with mobile engineers, and engineers from different teams. The team collaborates closely with product, design, marketing to deliver business-critical initiatives and exciting new use cases.
Responsibilities:
Help establish roadmap and architecture based on technology and our needs
Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, maintainable code
Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge
Share your knowledge by giving brown bags, tech talks, and promoting appropriate tech and engineering best practices
Can help lead large projects from idea to positive execution
Unblock, support and communicate with internal partners to achieve results
Experience:
Minimum 3-4 years of software engineering industry experience
Experience with object-oriented programming
Experience in distributed systems
Experience working with databases, relational and NoSQL
Familiarity with working in Python
Write clear, scalable and clear design documentation
Design, build and improve a set of team owned components

The expected base pay range for this position in the Toronto area is CAD $108,000 - CAD $135,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
