Reporting to the AVP, you will lead actuarial pricing initiatives for our West personal insurance auto portfolio. Beyond pricing, you’ll bring a deep understanding of business needs and regulatory requirements. You’ll provide actuarial expertise in product design, corporate planning, and underwriting/segmentation analysis, while partnering across functions to develop aligned, data-driven pricing solutions to meet strategic goals. You will lead an actuarial team to drive innovation in pricing methods and ensure smooth implementation of rating plans and algorithm changes. What you’ll do: Accountable for the overall performance and people management of an Actuarial Street Pricing team. Directly responsible for actuarial methods and assumptions used as well as the overall pricing of West auto personal insurance. Lead and support rate reviews for personal insurance auto products. Proactively monitor trends, mix of business, and changes in operational practices that affect personal insurance performance. Effectively communicate the results of the rate reviews to all collaborators and get consensus on rate proposals. Improve effectiveness and accuracy in existing processes and procedures. Be forward-thinking and adapt models and techniques to business, product and data structure changes. Collaborate with other regional teams to ensure that decisions fit within the overall pricing strategy. Coach junior staff members to develop their technical and personal skills. Act as a role model for the Aviva values and inspire others to follow them. Obtain a deep understanding of your assigned book of business in particular, and the Canadian business in general, to explain the key factors underlying the emerging experience and to provide strategic insights to collaborators What you'll bring: Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, Math, Statistics, or other related subjects. Minimum ACAS/ACIA, FCAS/FCIA is preferred. 5+ years of personal insurance pricing experience or 7+ years of P&C actuarial experience. Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor and develop a team. Proven ability to manage and complete projects with facility to multitask and prioritize. Strong problem-solving and outstanding analytical skills with an insatiable desire to probe, question, validate and challenge to ensure accurate and insightful analysis. Entrepreneurial and motivated spirit, with the ability to understand business requirements and turn them into actuarial analysis (and vice-versa). Effective negotiation skills with the ability to build consensus and influence effectively. Excellent working knowledge of regulatory filings Solid verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to a nontechnical audience. Hands-on as well as managerial experience in scripting/coding, including Python.
