Mainframe Developer (Insurance)
Experienced mainframe developer sought for a hybrid role in the insurance industry, supporting legacy MIS systems and regulatory data reporting. Requires COBOL, Informatica, JCL, and deep knowledge of N0110/N0130 processes. Hybrid model with 3 days/week on-site in Markham. Strong opportunity for impact in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities:
• Maintain and enhance the legacy MIS to meet regulatory reporting needs.
• Collaborate with regulatory reporting teams to analyze and fulfill data requirements.
• Develop, test, and deploy COBOL programs for processing insurance data feeds (N0110, N0130).
• Perform data integration and transformation using Informatica.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize batch processing jobs.
• Ensure data integrity, compliance with regulatory standards, and accurate delivery of reports.
• Document system changes and provide support to business users.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical improvements.
• Conduct research on new technologies and assess their impact on operations.
• Assist with implementation of new technology development practices across business areas.
• Support daily operational tasks, analysis, and compliance-related initiatives.
• Help identify and escalate complex issues during technology implementation and testing.
• Contribute to positive customer outcomes by ensuring reliable system support and accurate data flows.
What you will need to succeed:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of mainframe development experience in the insurance industry.
• Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, and VSAM.
• Hands-on experience with Informatica for data integration.
• Strong understanding of insurance data feeds, specifically N0110 (Premium Feed) and N0130 (Claims Feed).
• Experience with job scheduling and batch processing.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork capabilities.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
