The Rotman Commerce program is offered jointly by the Rotman School of Management and the Faculty of Arts and Science. It is a highly respected program within the business, financial and academic communities. Rotman Commerce serves approximately 3,400 in-program undergraduate business students as well as over 18,000graduates of the Bachelor of Commerce program. As the Alumni Engagement & Development Officer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing alumni engagement initiatives that foster meaningful connections between alumni, students, and the institution; leading the planning and execution of events from logistics to post-event analysis; assisting fundraising efforts by promoting giving opportunities and nurturing relationships with key prospects; maintaining accurate alumni records, generating reports to inform strategy, and ensuring data integrity; supporting donor relations through personalized stewardship communications and recognition activities; and managing project budgets, expenses, and volunteer coordination to deliver seamless advancement experiences.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and executing alumni engagement activities and programs that align with Rotman Commerce's strategic objectives
- Implementing initiatives that connect current students and alumni through mentorship, networking, and volunteer opportunities
- Organizing and delivering events, including alumni receptions and donor gatherings, and conducting post-event analysis to inform future planning
- Promoting alumni engagement and giving opportunities to students, alumni, academic units, and external partners
- Managing alumni volunteer participation and maintaining accurate records of engagement across digital platforms
- Monitoring program and event budgets, handling related expenses, and preparing financial reports asneeded
- Supporting donor relations by drafting stewardship reports, acknowledgment letters, and coordinating recognition communications
- Providing guidance and administrative support to volunteers and acting as a resource for internal and external stakeholders
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
- Minimum three (3) years relevant experience in alumni relations, advancement, event planning, or related fields
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience drafting donor communications and stewardship reports
- Ability to interact effectively with alumni, volunteers, students, faculty,and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, organize and execute events and engagement initiatives
- Experience managing competing deadlines, logistical details, and post-event analysis
- Ability to monitor accounts, prepare budget variance reports, and manage expenses for events and programs
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and direct volunteers in defined activities
- Ability to respond professionally to inquiries and resolve minor issues independently
- High level of concentration and attention to detail
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as keyboarding for extended periods
- Willingness and ability to work occasional overtime on weekends
Assets (Nonessential):
- Experience working in a university advancement or alumni relations setting
- Familiar with alumni engagement platforms and donor databases (e.g. Raiser's Edge, Salesforce, or similar CRM tools)
- Understanding of university fundraising practices and stewardship protocols
- Experience coordinating volunteers and engaging alumni in mentorship or speaking opportunities
- Skill in creating marketing or promotional content related to events or engagement initiatives
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities and deadlines
- Ability to adapt event planning and engagement strategies based on evaluation and feedback

USW Pay Band 14 -- $91,677. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $117,242. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
