Builder Works at Amazon sits at the intersection of traffic engineering, region
flexibility, and developer enablement. Every time a customer clicks on
Amazon.com, complex underlying systems route requests to the right machines in
the right regions, computing and delivering content in milliseconds, even during
Prime Day or Black Friday peaks.
We build frameworks and systems powering store presentations, catalog pages, and
content pipelines used by both developers and creative teams to author Amazon’s
shopping experiences at scale. Our mission: enable seamless, engaging customer
experiences while operating at massive, global scale. Design and implement
scalable systems that route customer requests to the optimal region, balancing
latency, cost, and availability. Build and optimize frameworks enabling the
creation of dynamic store presentations and catalog pages, supporting high
traffic events like Prime Day.
Develop and maintain traffic engineering proxies and networking solutions to
support region flexibility and data center expansion. Collaborate with internal
Amazon developers and creative teams to build tools that enhance content
authoring and presentation, reducing time-to-publish for promotional and
cross-promotional content. Engineer systems to precompute and fetch data from
thousands of sources, balancing real-time computation with precomputation for
consistent low-latency delivery. Design with scalability in mind, ensuring
system stability and performance at tens of thousands of transactions per
second.
Contribute to the exploration and integration of AI-powered developer
experiences within Builder Works to enhance productivity for Amazon’s
engineering teams.
