The Mechanical Services team includes a diverse group of dedicated and knowledgeable skilled trades who operate and maintain the mechanical infrastructure on campus. We work collaboratively with our Electrical, and Energy & Controls departments to continuously optimize our operation finding ways to reduce energy consumption, maintenance costs, improve system reliability, and reduce our carbon footprint.
About the Role
Shift Engineers play a pivotal role in supporting the department’s goals through the operation and ongoing optimization of the campus District Energy System, as well as the various chillers, cooling towers, and building hydronic heating and cooling systems. They also support maintenance activities in alignment with TSBC requirements and help ensure daily compliance with regulatory standards.
The ideal candidate is someone who can think strategically and develop unique solutions to complex and interesting challenges. Someone who can work effectively as part of a greater team but also be highly self-motivated to support positive change.

Qualifications
Class 3 Power Engineering Certificate and five years of related experience in areas such as fuel material handling, compressed air systems, water treatment systems, and controls, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid BC driver's license (Class 5) and basic computer skills required.
Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan, and execute assigned work is required.
Experience working with hot water, chilled water, and cooling tower water treatment is required. Minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
