Southpointe is seeking a dynamic and collaborative leader to oversee the quality of all school events, manage and support the parent volunteer team (PVT) and develop an alumni engagement strategy, while fostering positive relationships with community members, organizations, and fellow staff surrounding the School.
As a member of the Leadership Team, the Director of Community Engagement is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing activities and events to help Southpointe achieve its public relations goal, strengthening its sense of community, and enhancing its reputation. They will work collaboratively with primary planning committees, event leads, Divisional Principals and school leadership. They are responsible for ensuring a coordinated approach to community engagement, alumni relations, and event delivery.
Key Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Leads, creates, implements, and evaluates the strategic and tactical community engagement plan
Serves as the primary liaison and manages the Parent Volunteer Team (PVT) and initiatives to strengthen the school community
Develops and oversees the alumni engagement strategy from a community relations perspective:
Serves as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team and promotes the school's vision, mission, guiding principles, and strategic plan
Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills, including experience in goal setting, motivating, leading, evaluating and developing a team of professionals;
Strong organization, self-management, and collaboration skills to execute events to a high standard;
Demonstrated professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive/confidential matters and in representing the School, publicly and privately in all domains;
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the School’s strategic goals;
Understand ethical behaviour and business practices and ensure one’s own behaviour and that of others is consistent and aligns with these standards and the School’s values;
Speak, listen, present and write in a clear, thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques;
Determine strategies to move the organization forward, set goals, create and implement action plans and evaluate the progress and results;
Knowledge and understanding of the education sector and/or working with children is an asset.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field;
Minimum of 5 years of community and alumni relations experience, with a track record of accomplishment in programme development and execution;
Experience interacting with senior level business and community leaders;
Experience in managing and coordinating activities involving volunteers;
Experience with various communications and database programs.
