Job Summary: Reporting to the Director of Admissions and Recruitment, the Regional Market Development Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of regional strategies and initiatives that support the strategic international enrolment goals of Ontario Tech. This position leads market development, including recruitment initiatives, agent relations, and enrolment partnership development, in their respective region. Integral to this position are the relationships they develop and maintain in their region of expertise. As a member of the Recruitment team, the incumbent is responsible for evaluating international enrolment trends and institutional data, as well as trends in international education to develop a plan for prospective international student recruitment that considers high-affinity high schools, colleges and partner organizations.
Responsibilities/accountabilities:
Plans and conducts student recruitment activities in their identified region, producing annual market recruitment plans, regularly reviewing activities, results and strategies
Represents the university at recruitment events both internationally and nationally
Enhances existing and develop new relationships with schools, guidance counsellors, and agent representatives
Delivers information sessions and presentations to prospective students and other stakeholders including parents, guidance counsellors and agents
Engages in lead nurturing activities of prospective students and applicants throughout the lifecycle both virtually and in-person
Reports on the anticipated costs of activities and the target recruitment objectives
Manages the international recruitment lifecycle including brand awareness, lead collection and nurturing, and conversion to enrolment
Maintains a team of agent representatives; recruits, selects, orients, and trains representatives; works with international agent representatives to set enrolment targets
Oversees day to day management of Student Recruitment Officers and In-Market Recruitment Representatives
Coordinates marketing collateral required for international recruitment in collaboration with the Registrar’s office Communications team and the Communications and Marketing department
Recommends strategies for maximizing the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to provide business automation to the international recruitment function, and first-class lead nurturing to prospective students and applicants
Does on-going in-depth market research, producing market briefs that will inform decision making for recruitment efforts
Seeks undergraduate and graduate partnership opportunities to attain international recruitment goals
Reviews potential program, pathway or cohort offerings in line with international enrolment targets; liaises with partner institutions in planning, promotion, and successful delivery of partnership
Develops and executes an international conversion strategy to increase Ontario Tech’s yield from admitted to confirmed student
Manages a team of student ambassadors to engage in call and email activities that reach every international applicant in their respective region
Performs other recruitment related tasks as required
Required Skills:
Demonstrated oral and public speaking skills with an emphasis on presentation to external contacts
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
Significant and detailed level of knowledge on international education, recruitment, and marketing
Detailed understanding of international market development
Demonstrated experience in digital recruitment
Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the proven ability to keep current on changes and trends in the university enrolment environment
Flexibility in dealing with a variety of clients; secondary, non-secondary, non-traditional, parents, teachers, guidance counsellors and agents
Positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation
Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
Working knowledge of Banner and CRM tools
Significant and detailed level of knowledge of the Ontario Tech environment and structure
Strong understanding of STEM disciplines
Fluency in a second language would be an asset
A working knowledge of post-secondary programs throughout Canada is an asset
Must be physically capable of performing duties as assigned, including driving and standing for lengthy periods and lifting display units and boxes weighing up to 25kg.
Flexibility to work irregular hours and ability to travel extensively throughout Ontario, nationally and internationally up to 3 weeks at a time. Regular weekend work is required. This role averages 15-20 weeks of travel per year
Ability to engage in long-distance travel
Ability to multi-task, stay organized and delegate tasks as necessary
A strong record of teamwork, with the motivation and ability to coordinate tasks in a team environment
Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and respect for students, staff and faculty
Required Education:
Completion of an undergraduate university degree is mandatory
A combination of education and experience may be considered for this role
- Verification of Academic credentials may be required
Required Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in the field of post-secondary international recruitment or marketing
Experience with staff supervision and workflow coordination
Valid Ontario Driver’s License (Class G) with clear Driver’s Abstract, and passport is required
Clear Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
