We are actively seeking a full time Operations Accountant to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. Reporting to the Team Lead, Operations Accounting, the successful candidate will play a key role in recording and analysing operating costs, and supporting the monthly accounting cycle, including accruals and forecast reviews. This role requires a strong understanding of operating netbacks, with a focus on operating expenses and key cost drivers. Primary Responsibilities: Prepare and analyze monthly operating cost accruals, including variance explanations for management reporting. Monitor reported field inventory balances against inventory management system data and prepare material transfers. Provide routine and ad hoc accounting support to Field and Production Operations, including cost classification guidance. Support monthly operations review meetings with asset teams and operations leadership. Manage property tax payment schedules and coding; prepare coding for field utility charges, annual fees, and levies. Identify and support process improvements, coding reviews, corrections, and audit assistance. Assist with operating cost lookbacks, chart of accounts optimization, and maintenance of allocation cost centers. Collaborate with business unit analysts and provide accounting support as needed. Provide backup for capital and joint venture accounting functions. Support various ad hoc projects as assigned. Qualifications: Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or equivalent professional accounting designation. Minimum 5 years of relevant Oil and Gas industry experience. Proficiency with Qbyte FM, OPTIX, AFE Aucerna, data cubes and Tableau (or similar tools). Skills and Knowledge: Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent English communication and presentation skills. Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a desire for continuous improvement. Advanced MS Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets. Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
