About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Distribution Supervisor to join our dynamic Supply Chain Operations East team.
The Supply Chain Operations East team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by filling hospital blood products requests across the Ottawa region. Blood products include blood components processed by Canadian Blood Service and plasma protein products. In the role, you will be responsible for leading and motivating the Distribution staff, provide clear goals while building a high performance team.
Formula for success
Leveraging your excellent leadership skills, you will oversee the Distribution operation while creating a positive working environment in which staff feel empowered, challenged and engaged.
Drawing on your knowledge in Distribution, you will manage team and individual performance to ensure safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity objectives are met.
Utilizing your superior interpersonal and communication skills you will coach the workforce to ensure that processes are performed effectively, efficiently and safely, all the while ensuring staffing levels are sufficient to run the operation.
Contribute to the Production Manager's annual budget and capital planning processes.
Lead Continuous Improvement efforts with front line and cross functional participation.
Recognize problems and encourage team to problem solve using continuous improvement tools.
Sustain relationships with hospitals regarding orders, delivery times, etc.
Desired education and skills
Completion of post secondary education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution in a science related subject.
Minimum three (3) years experience in a Supervisory role.
Minimum five (5) years experience in a least one of the following environments: manufacturing, distribution, hospital service.
Operational experience in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Quality Assurance environment.
Supervisory experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
An active Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) license; in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario is an asset.
Demonstrate team building and motivation skills including constructive conflict resolution.
