We are looking for a Plumber to join our Residential team in Yellowknife, NT. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring that Northview’s buildings show pride of ownership and respect for our residents. The Plumber will ensure our plumbing fixtures, water systems, sewage systems, and mechanical systems are in working order for our tenants, and that maintenance issues are resolved in a timely and cost-efficient manner. In this specialized position, the Plumber will work throughout Iqaluit on any number of our residential properties and provide emergency on-call support. Some periodic travel to Nunavut Communities may also be required.
Responsibilities:
With a focus on customer service, troubleshoot and prioritize work orders for maintenance repairs to fixtures, water lines, sewage lines, and heating systems (with OBM’s)
Preventative maintenance to hot water systems, domestic water, and sewage systems (both connected utilidor and trucked services), and heating systems
Identification of and performance of capital replacements for larger system components.
Emergency and after-hours response
Record and log repair and maintenance work and generate requisitions for required parts and materials
Direct the work of subcontract labour, occasionally
Assisting with and or performing suite renovations and other upgrades
Assisting with and/or performing routine non-plumbing-related maintenance
Assisting with the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs
Ensuring the safety and good mechanical working order of all properties in the region complying with Northview’s Health and Safety requirements
Other related duties as assigned by the manager
Qualifications:
A licensed Journeyman Plumber
Previous experience in heating systems, hot water systems, kitchen and bathroom renovations and non-plumbing-related repairs
Able to work independently, is a self-starter, and takes pride in a job well done
Proven troubleshooting skills including diagnosing potential issues, identifying solutions, and mitigating challenges or problems
Proven ability to work productively and safely while under pressure
Good customer service skills and pleasant demeanor
Able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted
Able to provide a criminal record check free of relevant convictions
Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
