Job Title: Healthy by Nature Coordinator
Reporting To: Manager, Healthy by Nature
Purpose: To advance awareness and interest in the program’s key message about the benefits of spending time in nature, create accessible and equitable opportunities for Canadians to connect with nature, and foster a culture that values and protects the outdoors, scaling the program across Canada.

The BC Parks Foundation is the official charitable partner and conservation financing mechanism to one of the largest systems of parks in the world, with over 1,040 parks and more than 26 million visits per year. Our motivated team has produced outstanding results, including raising over $400 million in the last 4 years, protecting over 55 beautiful places, and launching an internationally recognized health initiative. And we’ve only just begun. Our mission is to create the greatest system of parks and indigenous protected areas in the world.
The Healthy by Nature initiative operates the Foundation’s national programs, including PaRx, Canada’s national nature prescription program, which is socializing nature connectedness for health. By establishing Nature Parks on schoolgrounds, the Learning by Nature initiative will improve youth mental and physical health, increase equitable access to nature for communities, and foster opportunities for reconciliation through land based learning.

Role Summary:
The Healthy by Nature (HBN) Coordinator’s role is to support the HBN team with exceptional tracking, organization and project planning, and data management skills. The HBN Coordinator will engage with school systems staff and administrators, health care professionals, First Nations, and other organizations. You will be involved in the project management and roll-out of the Healthy by Nature initiative. You will be a key driver of progress, coordinating the execution of detailed tasks, and monitoring and reporting project status with respect to scope, data, schedule and budget, including risks and associated mitigations for each of those areas. You will establish and maintain relationships with internal resources and relevant partners, coordinating their participation in the key areas of HBN.
This initiative will have continuous evolution with additional features being added and wider deployment. You will have the ongoing responsibility to significantly contribute to development of the project plans and project manage the implementation of these expansions.
Key Responsibilities:
Build and maintain the Healthy by Nature dashboard, including project plan and metrics tracking
Support data collection and tracking
Maintain and grow the evidence-based resources for Healthy by Nature
Support the creation of Healthy by Nature assets including presentations, handouts, and posters
Track and report on metrics, accomplishments, risks and opportunities, and make recommendations on new strategies that improve efficiency and mitigate risk
Coordinate meetings and events for Healthy by Nature partners including school administrators, teachers, students, health care professionals and academic researchers
Identify and work with external partners who can meaningfully contribute to and support the Healthy by Nature program, and coordinate their participation
Identify impactful stories from prescribers, patients, students and teachers, and coordinate with communications team to share these stories
Support ‘Learning by Nature’ grant recipients, in particular with data collection and tracking
Register healthcare providers for the PaRx program
Support PaRx nature prescription fulfilment
Help promote a culture in Canada that values the importance of spending 2.5 hours in nature to gain the health benefits
Connect with and contribute to respectful relationships with Indigenous people
Connect with and contribute to respectful relationships with BC Parks and other park partners
Contribute to a constructive, results oriented, and inspiring organizational culture
Requirements:
Minimum 1 year experience in a similar position or related field
Post-secondary education (preferably in the fields of Health, Science, Education, Curriculum, Learning)
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Experienced in program administration, non-profit programs and Indigenous engagement
Familiarity and experience working with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel
Ability to work independently with attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to exercise good judgement
Ability to read and summarize scientific articles
Interest in environmental issues and the connection between nature and health
Fluent in English
Skills and experience considered an asset:
Fluency in a second language, French will be a particular asset
Familiarity and experience working with Salesforce and/or Webflow
Training or certification in grant or project management
