Position Overview:
As a Senior Tax Analyst, you will work closely with the Senior Manager, Indirect Taxation, ensuring compliance with U.S. Sales and Use Taxes and Canadian GST/HST/PST for our North American operations. You’ll be a key player in maintaining accurate tax filings, supporting audits, and driving improvements in our tax compliance processes.
This is a newly created position due to company growth and is a hybrid role (typically 2 days in office and 3 days remote) based at our HQ in Montreal (Saint-Laurent).
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and review U.S. Sales/Use and Canadian indirect tax returns.
Reconcile indirect tax general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries as needed.
Analyze tax notices, communicate with tax authorities, and resolve issues efficiently.
Conduct data analysis and research to ensure compliance with evolving tax regulations.
Assist with government audits and tax authority reviews.
Support the implementation of new tax technologies and process improvements.
Stay up to date on U.S. and Canadian indirect tax legislation and changes.
Potential team project involvement in 2025–26 may include:
Enhancement of the ERP system's integration with a tax determination engine for US sales and use tax
Improvement of an exemption certificate management system
Additional initiatives focused on the continuous improvement of tax compliance processes
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or a closely-related field
Five years of overall Accounting/Finance work experience
Two or more years of experience in indirect/commodity taxes, ideally with a focus on U.S. Sales and Use Tax
Bilingual in English and French
Advanced proficiency with Excel and experience with ERP systems; SAP preferred
Must be based in Montreal, Quebec area as this is a hybrid role
