Black Rock Oceanfront Resort in Ucluelet, BC is hiring a Chef de Partie to join our year-round culinary team.
We’re looking for an experienced cook with leadership skills who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen and takes pride in delivering exceptional food. As Chef de Partie, you’ll oversee a station, support menu development, and help train and mentor the team. This is a great fit for someone who:
Has a Red Seal Certification and successful completion of a culinary program
Brings at least 2 years of experience as a 1st Cook, preferably in a 4- or 5-star resort or hotel
Leads by example and can mentor junior staff with patience and professionalism
Works well under pressure and keeps high standards during busy service periods
Has excellent teamwork and communication skills
Has flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Is physically able to work in a demanding kitchen environment and lift up to 40 lbs.
Holds valid First Aid; HACCP training is an asset
In this role, you will:
Manage a station and ensure mise en place and service are executed to resort standards
Prepare and plate dishes for restaurant service and banquet functions (up to 150 guests)
Lead, train, and motivate cooks to maintain quality, consistency, and efficiency
Support the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs with menu planning, specials, and promotions
Oversee food quality, freshness, portion control, and proper storage (FIFO)
Assist with inventory, scheduling, and other administrative tasks as required
Ensure a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment at all times
Monitor equipment functionality and cleanliness, reporting issues promptly
Contribute to a respectful, collaborative, and professional team culture
