What the position entails:
GeoVerra is looking for our next Project Manager (Surveying/Geomatics) in
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan! Do you love keeping things organized, juggling

This role focuses on efficiently planning, executing, and completing projects
through exceptional project management, excellence in GeoVerra Services, and
leadership. Project Managers play an integral role, representing and following
GeoVerra culture, processes and striving towards corporate goals. The role
involves building strong client relationships with outstanding communication and
organization to ensure services surpass clients’ expectations. As a leadership
position, it requires managing field and office production employees who rotate
between projects based on their skill sets, enabling effective oversight of
diverse personnel. Project managers will oversee various diverse personnel
according to project needs, requiring exceptional leadership skills to ensure
efficiency and effectiveness.
What you will do:
Project Planning and Execution:
- Adoption and compliance of GeoVerra project processes (safety, project
management and controls, and technical delivery).
- Establish, cultivate, and enhance positive relationships with clients, aiming
to be their trusted partner.
- Lead and/or assist in preparing quality proposals in conjunction with our
proposal office that meet client and internal requirements, including but not
limited to clearly defined scope, assumptions, standard content, execution
plan, legal terms and conditions, detailed cost estimates and project
profitability estimate.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including appropriate technical
methodology, defining scope, goals, timelines and resource requirements with
consideration to any applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Lead project teams in project execution by supervising and directing project
deliveries and actively monitoring and managing project scope, schedule,
quality, safety, financial performance and client satisfaction.
- Maintain a risk-aware project environment, recognizing risk events early and
proactively mitigate
- Forecast project outcomes and make necessary adjustments as required.
Resource Leadership
- Provide strong leadership to both field and relevant office resources,
including production and corporate support staff, while promoting and
fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Engage in diverse leadership responsibilities encompassing tasks including
but not limited to being involved in the recruitment process, onboarding,
offboarding, performance management, and scheduling, engaging Field and
Office Production Managers when required.
- Supervise, train, mentor and motivate team members, encouraging high
performance and a commitment to excellence.
- Conduct regular meetings with rotating project team members to communicate
project goals, progress, and address any challenges.
- Address conflicts within the project team promptly and professionally,
engaging Field and Office Production Managers, Branch Leads, Directors, VPs
or HR when required.
- Partner with regional and national departments to allocate resources
effectively, considering skills and strengths of team members.
- Optimize resource utilization to ensure the successful delivery of multiple
projects concurrently.
Stakeholder Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, ensuring
clear and consistent communication.
- Provide regular project updates, status reports, and address stakeholder
concerns or requests.
- Communicate with clients and internal team members to ensure timely flow of
information, actions, deliverables, timelines and budgets.
- Foster positive relationships with clients, ensuring their expectations are
met or exceeded.
- Manage client expectations, scope creep and scope changes through active
communication.
- Identify and resolve client, project and/or team issues through effective
communication.
- Promote and offer additional services to existing clients to enhance their
overall experience and meet their evolving needs.
- Identify additional opportunities with existing clients, as well as new
clients, services or markets through actively participating in Business
Development and BD Initiatives.
Quality & Safety Assurance:
- Comply with all quality and safety standards throughout the project
lifecycle, ensuring deliverables meet or exceed client, regulatory and
internal standards. This includes review and training of project team’s
adoption and compliance of safety standards and processes.
- Implement best practices and lessons learned from previous projects to
enhance overall project quality.
- Collaborate with Field, Production and HSE teams to ensure
pre-access/post-incident Drug and Alcohol Testing, as well as client specific
safety preparation is conducted in accordance with project requirements.
- Conduct two (2) Management Field Observations on an annual basis to discuss
safety with employees and ensure that safe working conditions are being
maintained in accordance with GeoVerra’s standards.
- Align project and people management with GeoVerra’s Values, operational
priorities, people culture, and long-term strategic goals.
General office support
- Manage general office duties such as receiving deliveries, unloading and
organizing equipment and supplies.
- Assist with any ad-hoc office tasks to ensure smooth operations.
What you will do:
- 3+ years of previous project management experience with demonstrated success
in managing: Client Expectations, Scope, Budget / Forecast, Schedule, and
Quality, with a focus on land surveying, Geomatics, and construction
surveying services.
- 1+ years of previous leadership experience preferred.
- Relevant commission or professional designation, or ability to obtain it
within a reasonable time frame.
- Diploma or Degree in Geomatics Engineering Technology, B.Sc. in Geomatics or
related discipline preferred.
- Proven experience in successfully managing and delivering projects on time
and within budget.
- Skilled in project management tools and financial processes, including cost
control, profit forecasting, and margin optimization.
- Proven client relationship builder and sales strategist with a track record
of driving year-over-year growth.
- Strong leadership and team-building abilities; inspires collaboration and
inclusivity across cross-functional teams.
- Highly adaptable problem-solver with exceptional decision-making, conflict
resolution, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communicator with technical proficiency in Microsoft Office and key
industry software like Autodesk, Trimble, and Esri.
