Job Description: Position Purpose summary Our maintenance workers are responsible for the general upkeep of the Ottawa Booth Centre fleet and properties. Key accountabilities include: perform general repairs such as patching, painting, plumbing, replacing light bulbs daily and seasonal clean up of property grounds follow preventative maintenance schedules respond to maintenance requests from management shipping and receiving of goods Daily fleet inspections and reporting Daily pick up and delivery of food donations from various local vendors using a 3 ton truck. Physical Effort: Workplace is a men’s emergency shelter Climbing up and down ladders, working at ladder height Significant amount of walking Pushing and pulling skids weighing up to and over 100 pounds with the assistance of a jigger Lift up to 30 pounds without assistance and over 30 pounds with assistance Bending, twisting, crouching, reaching above and below shoulder height, kneeling Driving a 3 ton truck. Education, Qualifications and Certifications: High School Diploma or equivalent Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements 1 to 3 years recent general maintenance experience preferably with an organization that works with the marginalized population General knowledge of health & safety regulations, fire codes, PPE required when working with tools and electrical equipment, emergency procedures and vehicle operations Valid Ontario ‘G’ license for most recent 2 years with a Clean drivers abstract Must supply a clear police backcheck Skills and Capabilities Working knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing and painting as well Good communication and organizational skills Bilingual (English and French) is an asset THIS POSITION IS WEDNESDAY - SUNDAY 8:00am - 4:30 pm, including statutory holidays. Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $20.08 to $20.08 with a maximum of $20.08. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
