About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Electrical Lead, the Senior Technician, Electronics is
responsible for the supervision of Electronics Technicians and oversight of
electronic maintenance at site. The group is responsible for maintaining and
troubleshooting mobile telecommunications systems such as Wi-Fi network,
LoRaWAN, LTE, two-way radios, camera systems, mobile equipment monitoring
connectivity, shovel payload systems, GPS, collision avoidance systems and other
similar systems to maintain mine operations.
To be successful, we are looking for someone with strong interpersonal and
communication skills, who can work effectively between departments to gather
information on operational priorities and make necessary repairs efficiently.
This person works well independently and collaborates successfully with a team.
The role requires an individual to have both strong hands on skills and computer
diagnostics abilities. The ability to learn and support new technologies as
introduced is required.

In this role you will:

Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies

Coach and mentor the team on electronic equipment such as two-way radios,
data radios, Wenco Pit Control equipment, GPS systems, PLC based control
systems, field equipment

Maintain remote monitoring systems such as pit dewatering, water storage,
pumps, WIFI systems, pit control system and tire monitoring
-
Support remote troubleshooting of network-connected IP-based equipment,
including but not limited to, Wireless Network (WiFi, LTE), Wenco, 2 Way
Radio and GPS Systems

Planning, scheduling and prioritizing network tasks for routine maintenance
and project work

Coordination with operating departments of network outages
-
Coordination with Operational Technologies and other support groups
-
Executing long-term strategy, including network improvements
-
Diploma in Electronics or Electrical Engineering Technology, or Red Seal
Journeyperson Electrician with relevant experience, or equivalent
-
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as an Electronics Technician

Experience in mining or heavy industrial environments is preferred
-
Proven ability to mentor junior technicians and provide technical guidance to
team members

Registered, or eligible to register, as a Registered Engineering Technician

Familiarity with DC and AC analogue, digital drive control systems, and PLC’s

Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and service manuals

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Wi-Fi network,
LoRaWAN, LTE, two-way radios, camera systems, mobile equipment monitoring
connectivity, shovel payload systems, GPS, collision avoidance systems

Demonstrates leadership in troubleshooting, project execution, and technical
decision-making

Proactive in improving maintenance procedures and system performance

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s
relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
