The successful candidate will be suited working independently and as part of a larger team to repair and modify heavy haul trailers. They will have a keen eye for detail, perform work to the pinnacle quality of industry standards, complete jobs on time and on target, and minimize wastes in day-to-day operations.
Primary Responsibilities
Maintain, repair and overhaul heavy haul trailers.
Troubleshoot systems and estimate repairs.
Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems.
Conduct regular preventative maintenance tasks and inspections; keeps equipment cleaned, lubricated and maintained.
Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that the work done meets the manufacturer’s specifications.
Maintain shop tools and work area.
Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams.
Quality assurance and control.
Ensures effective equipment maintenance, safety and housekeeping standards are maintained.
Build and maintain a healthy and safe work environment.
Overhead crane operation.
Must be able to work in awkward positions.
Secondary Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a regular cleaning schedule to ensure the shop is kept tidy and well organized upon completion of work assignments
Ensure racking is kept in an order that work orders are easily accessible
Attend toolbox meeting prior to shift

Qualifications
Minimum 2nd year apprentice or Journeyman Trailer Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Technician
Trailer experience preferred
Asset if you possess a CVIP license
Ability to be indentured by AIT
Must have a strong work ethic
Must be quick to learn new skills
Physical Requirements
Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs - fitness test required
Indoor climate controlled facility
Standing on your feet for a long period of time
Have good eye to hand coordination
Be able to bend, crouch and kneel for extended periods
Ability to wear personal protective gear most of the day
Casual work clothes that meet safety requirements (Coveralls provided), PPE required (Steel Toe Boots, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection)

Days - Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
