About the Role:
Global News is currently seeking a full-time Provincial Executive Producer to join the team. This is a key leadership position and part of a management team that leads a multi-platform newsroom, developing content for TV and Online 7 days a week. This position is based in Regina, overseeing production of several newscasts in Regina and Saskatoon. This role reports directly to the News Director. The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts including early mornings, days, evenings, and weekends.
You will contribute by:
Leading a team of Producers and Digital Broadcast Journalists to deliver powerful and engaging newscasts, providing accurate and relevant up-to-the-minute information.
Helping employees reach their full potential through regular coaching sessions, performance reviews and goal setting.
Collaborating with other news managers on story selection, placement and treatment and assist in vetting scripts with particular focus on strong storytelling.
Ensuring newscasts are current and updated in a timely fashion, adhering to a “right not first” mentality.
Building and maintaining a culture of top performance, where accuracy is necessary and creating market leading newscasts is an expectation.
Working with the management team and others, oversee planning for special events and live on location broadcasts.
Assisting the online team to develop workflows and communication among the teams that drive delivery of video online in a timely fashion.
Managing performance, providing coaching for employees, and celebrating high performers and innovative thinkers
Being responsible for the on-air look, sound and feel of TV newscasts.
Working with Anchors, DBJs, and Producers – build value around top stories in every newscast through proper show production, pacing, framing, breaking news execution:
Advocating community focused and sales integrated content and assisting in ensuring proper execution.
Support and uphold the MMC (multimarket content) model with consistency.
Performing other duties as required.
Skills and experience you bring:
Post-secondary education in broadcast television in addition to five years’ experience in a related field.
Strong news sense and excellent understanding of how to create engaging television newscasts.
Be a proven leader that can motivate and engage staff while getting results.
Strong writing and organizational skills and a proven ability to work well under pressure.
Work cooperatively with others in a teamwork setting.
Positive, can-do attitude, proven track record of accountability.
Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows.
Passion for broadcast and online journalism and Canadian affairs. You wake up in the middle of the night with good ideas.
A positive attitude, a love for collaboration and a team player.
Ability to work in a rapidly changing, dynamic environment.
Motivated, self-starter, independent, results oriented and professional.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clear driving record.
