Job Summary:
As a Trail Crew Member, you will be primarily responsible for doing summer slope grooming with various tasks including but not limited to the clearing of the ski runs, brush cutting/trimming, trail building as well as fire prevention and erosion control efforts. Under direct supervision from the Mountain Crew Supervisor and Mountain Operations Duty Managers assist other departments with manual tasks, clean up and tear-down, transport, and on occasion are expected to assist with line control and other guest related duties.
Essential Job Functions:
General maintenance of ski runs, primarily brush cutting and chain sawing
Seeding/haying ski runs and other areas of the mountain
Performing minor maintenance on power tools while out in the field
Daily maintenance of power tools at beginning/end of shift
Daily shifts will be approximately 8 hours, in all types of weather conditions
Adhering to all mountain policies and regulations at all times on or off the job
Cheerfully interacting with guests and staff and willing to go above and beyond to help guests
Punctual, in uniform, and adhering to the grooming policy
Demonstrating safe work practices and mandatory use of PPE
Assisting other departments with manual tasks
Cleaning up or assisting trade workers with special tasks
Cleaning/maintaining mountain top trails and attraction areas
Landscaping mountain top and base areas and maintaining these areas
Assisting with transport of goods around the mountain top area
Assisting to set up and tear down materials for events
Other duties as required
Required Qualifications and Abilities
Must be in excellent physical condition and hard-working
Functional knowledge of mountain operations an asset
OFA Level 3 an asset
Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Experience/certification in the use of a chainsaw and/or brush cutter is preferred
Must be a team player and able to work with minimal supervision
Previous experience in landscaping, construction or mechanical experience an asset
Valid driver’s license required
Working Conditions
Trail Crew perform most of their duties outdoors and may work in all different kinds of weather conditions.
Hours of operation are weather dependent. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include rotation of shifts, day/evening shifts, and weekends and statutory holidays.
Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, shoveling, and other forms of manual tasks.
Compensation and Benefits
$21.08/hour up to 24.66/hour
