Position Overview: The Senior Product Developer for Jersey and Sweats is the lead co-creation partner for Design, responsible for translating design’s vision into innovative, high-quality, luxury products, that embody creativity and technical excellence. This position plays a critical role in influencing and managing the full complex product development lifecycle—from initial concept through prototyping, sales samples, and commercialization—by driving excellence in execution and fostering close collaboration across design, merchandising, sourcing, md, and quality teams. This role will mainly be working out of our 100 Queens Quay East office. This is a 14-month maternity leave contract. About The Role: Drive, manage, and influence the development of assigned jersey and sweat styles from concept through to commercialization, integrating innovation, technical excellence and creativity at all stages. Act as a co-creation partner with Design and subject matter expert to bring creative vision to life, ensuring alignment between aesthetic, function, and commercial viability. Apply deep technical knowledge of jersey and sweats fabrics, including weight, stretch, shrinkage, recovery, and finishing, to influence fit, drape, and durability. Oversee prototype creation, ensuring samples reflect design intent, adhere to brand standards, and meet calendar milestones. Incorporating innovation such as 3D and AI when applicable. In partnership with MD and RM Sourcing, responsible for managing proto yardage ordering process and communication to vendors to ensure delivery of prototypes on time. Lead and participate in fit sessions, style and proto reviews; communicate construction and fit requirements clearly across cross-functional teams and vendors. Partner with MD, mills and vendors to research and apply innovations in fabric development, garment dyeing, washing and sustainable finishing techniques to elevate product quality and reduce environmental impact. Drive the development and maintenance of accurate tech packs and Bill of Materials (BOMs) to support efficient and precise production as well as material ordering. Partner with Merchandising, Design, and Sourcing to achieve cost targets without compromising quality or design integrity. Participate in cost engineering and margin optimization exercise in collaboration with Sourcing and Finance. Manage product development calendars, proactively communicating risk assessments and milestones to ensure deadlines are met. Offer solutions to help achieve calendar milestones as needed. Support Quality Assurance and Production teams to resolve issues quickly and maintain product excellence from prototype through to final production. Champion innovation and continuous improvement through materials research, process refinement, and adoption of digital tools such as 3D development platforms when applicable. Demonstrate strong awareness of market trends and consumer insights specific to woven apparel, ensuring product relevance and innovation. Ensure alignment with other product developers across categories to maintain consistency in process, standards, and best practices. Partner with internal teams such as Product Education and Merchandising to ensure accurate product communication to Wholesale, Brand Ambassadors, and ECOMM. About You: 5+ years of experience in Apparel Product Development, specifically with jersey and sweatshirt categories (fleece, French terry, interlock, rib, etc.). Experience working with premium or luxury apparel brands preferred. Degree in Fashion Design, Product Development, Industrial Design, or related field preferred. Advanced technical knowledge of jersey and fleece materials, including fiber content, knit structures, mechanical stretch, shrinkage control, and finishing techniques (e.g., garment dye, enzyme wash, brushing, silicone finishes). Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, and pattern development for jersey and sweatshirt products. Proficiency in PLM systems, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop); experience with 3D product creation platforms is a plus. Skilled in cost analysis, sourcing strategy, and production processes specific to jersey and fleece apparel. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional and global teams. Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects on tight deadlines. Experience leading or mentoring junior team members is an asset.
