Job Title: Receiver/Shipper

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Assists in and performs general warehouse duties, specific tasks and related processes for the
Warehouse department including distribution, under the direction of the Operations Manager, following BakeMark’s guiding principals of Best Practice process improvement and cultural attitude to meet or exceed objectives. In addition, always keeps the BakeMark Mission and related strategies as the primary focus and goal. This is accomplished by performing the following principle/essential accountabilities:
PRINCIPAL/ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- WAREHOUSE DUTIES:
Receives and enters purchase orders into the NDS system
Rotates stock and puts stock away, using a forklift/reach truck as required
Picks orders accurately and with proper care. Double-checks orders
Performs inventory and cycle count as required
Performs duties in the freezer and dry warehouse, as required
Responsible for general upkeep of warehouse
Changes pick slots in the NDS system, after they been approved
Ensures all overstock cards are accurately maintained.
- DISTRIBUTION DUTIES:
Loads and unloads trucks, using a forklift/reach truck as required
Books outbound and inbound appointments
Fills out and maintains pallet logs (Chep & CPC)
Fills out all transports bill of lading and any other transport documents
Ensures all deliveries meet scheduled appointment time criteria and that the received stock meets the specified Ti/Hi configuration.
Communicates all non-compliance situations to Purchasing/Warehouse Manager.
- Fills in for the Purchasing/Warehouse Manager when he/she is not in the warehouse.
PLANNING
Assist in the preparation of short-term and long-range goals and objectives for the warehouse and distribution area that is based on corporate goals and growth.
Make recommendations to the Operations Manager in the location of products and
Layout of the warehouse to facilitate productivity and reduce picks errors.
CUSTOMER FOCUS (Internal/External)
Follows up on all customer requests and questions to ensure appropriate response
Is made and the customer is satisfied.
Treats all customers with dignity, respect, courtesy, and kindness.
Acts in a manner that conveys a positive image of the company to all customers.
Accepts responsibility to consider how actions affect our customers and our company.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
Ensures that all products are fit for sale in compliance with all federal and provincial
Food safety laws and regulations.
Ensures that any product that is unfit for sale due to damage, expiration, or any other
reason is it removed from the pick slot, labeled “On Hold – Do Not Sell”, and brought
to the attention of the Operations Manager.
Ensures that all products requiring special storage conditions are stored in such a manner
as to fulfill that requirement.
- PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
QUALIFICATIONS
The individual must be able to perform each principle and essential accountability satisfactorily. Warehouse experience and a proven track record in delivering good organizational results is expected, and a thorough knowledge and ability to read, interpret, and understand order information is desirable. Needs ability to be a part of an effective team, and motivate him/her i.e., managing culture and morale.
Prior experience in bakery ingredients or a food-related business would be beneficial, but not a must. Beverage industry experience may apply. Previous supply chain roles are beneficial. Ability to interact effectively at all organization levels is required. Some computer skills might be required. The ability to operate a forklift safely is a must. Experience with loading and unloading trucks is required. A well-rounded lifestyle and sense of humor, with an appreciation for diversity can be advantageous. Unquestionable ethical conduct in both business leadership and personnel dealings are an absolute requirement.
Ability to define and resolve problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Warehousing degree preferred, but not required; with two to five years of related experience and/or training. WHMIS and forklift certification required.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read invoices is needed. Ability to take inventory accurately and record the data, as required. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management.
