About the Role:
Global Saskatoon’s News Department is currently seeking a full-time Digital Broadcast Journalist to join its team. The successful candidate for this position may be required to work a variety of shifts and perform a variety of duties. In this position, you will report directly to the Provincial Managing Editor. This is a group 4 position in the current collective agreement.
You will contribute by:
Generating original and relevant story/segment ideas.
Strong on-air presentation, including live remotes and unscripted material.
Writing, producing, shooting, editing and posting content with multiple deadlines on a daily basis for both broadcast and online.
ENG photography and non-linear editing for broadcast and online.
Publishing video content to websites and social media channels.
Available to work weekdays, evenings and weekends.
Producing as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills and experience you will bring:
Post-secondary education in Journalism, Broadcasting, Broadcast Technology or in a related field.
Strong writing and storytelling skills.
Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows.
Strong news writing and presenting skills, and the ability to quickly pivot between daily stories.
Strong research abilities with attention to detail.
Ability to ‘think on your feet’ and handle the demands of multiple, daily online and broadcast deadlines in a high-tech environment.
Knowledge of, and experience with, social media tools and technologies (X, Facebook, YouTube, etc.) and related applications
Familiarity with Canadian Press style and WordPress would be considered assets.
Preference will be given to candidates with proven shooting and editing experience.
Previous anchoring and/or weather presentation experience would be considered an asset.
Self-started with good communication skills.
An amazing, can-do attitude must work well under pressure and possess a desire to be the best.

Valid full driver's license with a clean driving abstract.
