The Finance Data team is responsible for managing the data flow required to support actuarial modeling, reserve valuation, experience analysis and in-force management activities for Long Term Care (LTC) and Fixed Products (FP). This individual will work with IT professionals and John Hancock actuaries on projects and processes that deliver high quality and reliable data that meets business needs. The main priorities are to ensure data accuracy, minimize data delivery time, and enhance quality control infrastructure. Position Responsibilities: Provide ad hoc data support to troubleshoot data quality issues, perform systems analysis and workflow analysis, identify root causes, and evaluate and communicate alternative solutions. Perform quality assurance and testing, working collaboratively as a part of large cross-functional teams, ensuring business requirements and specifications are fulfilled. Support quarterly ETL production processes generating financial data and reporting. Build, improve and execute data quality validation, lineage research, and impact analysis. Act as liaison between multiple internal areas - actuarial, operations, and IT - for the development and implementation of new processes and systems, and the enhancement of existing ones. Translate business and user requirements into technical requirements, develop business requirement documents and specifications, mainly in SQL. Succinctly summarize findings from data analysis, document business issues, and communicate with stakeholders to arrive at optimal solutions. Required Qualifications: Minimum 7-10 years of experience in the financial services industry. Bachelor’s degree. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Strong knowledge of a data querying language such as SQL, Power BI, Qlik or similar reporting tools. Strong desire to improve processes. Ability to communicate effectively with actuaries and IT professionals. Outstanding ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while demonstrating sound judgment. Excellent organization and time management skills. Energetic personality with positive, can-do attitude. Role model of ethics and integrity who builds a culture of respect.
