Job Summary:
Van-Kam Freightways is currently seeking an apprentice Trailer Mechanic to join
our team in Victoria, BC. As a trailer mechanic you will be responsible the
inspection, maintenance, and repair of the trailers to ensure safe and efficient
operation. This is a Monday-Friday full-time position from 7:00am-3:30pm.

Van-Kam Freightways Ltd. (Van Kam) is one of the largest regional carriers in
Western Canada specializing in less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation. With 8
terminal locations across British Columbia, we fulfill shipments to communities
within 1-3 days throughout BC and Alberta. Between our own resources and our
partner network, our coverage extends beyond Western Canada into the U.S. and
Eastern Canada
.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair trailer components, including brakes, suspension systems,
electrical systems, and tires.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks.
- Repair or replace damaged trailer parts and components.
- Keep accurate records of all inspections, repairs and maintenance performed
on each trailer.
- collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and solve complex trailer
issues.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines while working on trailers.
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and
written
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- A strong customer service attitude.
Training and Experience
- We strongly encourage aspiring apprentices to apply. All necessary training
will be provided.
- Red Seal certification considered as an asset.
