We are looking for a Manager, Residential Accounting to join our Corporate-Finance team in Calgary, AB. Reporting to the Controller, Operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial information and analysis for our portfolio of residential properties located across Canada. Key to the success of this role is the oversight and analysis of the Residential property accounting team and the interface and support to the Operations team to support the business and its growth.
Responsibilities:
Manage and provide leadership, coaching, and training to the residential property accounting team.
Oversee the day-to-day accounting functions of the residential property accounting team including month end processes and reconciliations
Actively involved in the quarterly financial review process for the portfolio of residential properties
Contribute to the preparation of Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) commentary, providing operational insights and financial analysis
Provide support to the Operations team on all aspects of residential property accounting, including operational/financial analysis as required
Implement and monitor adherence to corporate accounting policies and internal control procedures to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial results
Review audit schedules and coordinate with auditors and internal compliance
A continuous process improvement mindset, with the ability to recognize opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in existing processes
Actively involved in the preparation of the annual operating budget for residential properties
Actively manages cross-departmental partnerships and collaboration
Other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications:
Previous supervisory experience, preferably in residential real estate/property management
Relevant University or College degree
CPA or working towards designation considered an asset.
A strong work ethic that respects and meets deadlines
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple deliverables
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong business acumen
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Proficient in Excel; experience with Yardi would be an asset
