We're looking for a Sr. Data Engineer to join our MG Core Data team. The team at
Match Group is responsible primarily for two things:
• Architect and engineer new data systems and reporting to help facilitate
business decision- making.
• Maintain and modify existing data systems that offer reporting based
decision-making.
The MG Core Data team is a service organization that caters and delivers
reporting solutions to the entire Match Group enterprise. As part of the Data
team, each individual holds a breadth of platform-agnostic knowledge and
collaborates with other team members to provide enterprise level solutions for
Marketing, Product, Finance, Accounting, Strategy etc. Furthermore, the MG Core
Data team is responsible not only for all aspects of transforming and delivering
raw data into a presentable and actionable format, but they are also well-versed
in how key data points affect business decision-making and provide an extra
level of insight outside of analytics teams. Being part of the MG Core Data team
means being at the crossroads of both the business and the technology, and
understanding of how both relate to each other is key.
This role is key to the success of Match Group. Not only will they help power
the love lives of many people, but they will play a critical part in the
functioning of every team at Match Group (Tinder, Hinge, Match, Okcupid,
PlentyofFish, BLK, Chispa and other brands), with stakeholders ranging from
customer experience to marketing to leadership. The Senior Data Engineer will be
implementing critical ETL pipelines and advancing best practices for not only
the data engineering team, but the rest of the organization. They will be
working on delivering an actual big data architecture while concentrating on
real-world problems such as privacy concerns. This position can be based in
either our Dallas, TX or Vancouver, Canada office. The role follows a hybrid
schedule of three days in the office and two days remote each week.

How you'll make an impact:
- Work with our Engineering teams to ensure data is flowing accurately through
data creation to our presentation layers
- Become an advocate for the Data Engineering team by developing and
championing Data Engineering practices with the team and with the company at
large
- Improve our Data Engineering stack through containerization, data modeling,
developing our ETL pipelines, and building scalable/reliable solutions
- Work with stakeholders and translate their needs and expectations into action
items and deliverables-
- Lead infrastructure initiatives, from design to implementation to delivery
- Support existing on-prem infrastructure and help expand our processes into
the cloud (AWS/Databricks)
We could be a match if:
- Expertise in SQL, Data Modeling, Lakehouse Architecture, and Python
- Used Redshift, Airflow, AWS QuickSight, Databricks, Spark, and relational
database like SQL Server
- Capability to drive initiatives and articulate their value to Engineering and
other stakeholders
- Experience delivering data products from conception to delivery
- Good communication skills (written/verbal)
- Passionate about designing elegant ETL pipelines
- 7+ years of professional/industry experience

$125,000 - $139,500 a year
Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work
experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as
well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This
salary range is reflective of a position based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
