As a key part of the most innovative conifer seedling producer in the industry, you'll work with a focus on our people, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement. You'll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of greenhouse and outdoor seedling production, including financial management, personnel development, customer relations, and ensuring site safety. Your leadership will be crucial in executing PRT's strategy, which is rooted in our core values of stewardship and safeguarding our people, customers, assets, and environment.As the manager of PRT Summerland, you will lead a small but dedicated team in producing approximately 6 million seedlings annually on a 10-acre site. The core team consists of three full-time employees, who are supported by a flexible seasonal workforce. The team size fluctuates throughout the year, from around 11 people during the spring sow to a peak of up to 30 people during the busy harvest season from October to December. You will coach and lead this team to produce exceptional results and meet our production targets.What will YOU be doing as a Nursery Manager? Ensure adherence to organizational health and safety programs through routine management, review, and follow-up proceduresDevelop and prioritize proposals for capital expenditures and projectsManage and supervise container seedling productionCreate production target plansImplement crop and work plansIdentify and assess crop damage, losses and reliability issuesPerform root-cause analysis with nursery personnel and develop solutionsKeep neat and accurate recordsManage labor forceIdentify training needsMentor, coach, and train nursery personnelEnsure adherence to legal and regulatory requirementsCorrespond with customersFollow and enforce safe work practicesEncourage innovation and continuous improvementPromote collaboration and teamwork at all levelsSet targets (i.e., production, timelines) and evaluate achievementMore Than Just a Job:This is your chance to make a tangible impact on our planet.
